Base/Inherited skills are probably equally good later on, but yeah, base is better at the start since inheriting costs resources and if you're fusing a Persona it likely has skills you want to use in its learnset.
The left one would suck, but it also increases Highlight power, which I imagine is really good on Wonder later on since he can hold 3 Personas and gets access to buff/healing Highlights which will scale better, and the Highlight cooldown is per Persona rather than per character so he can use a backup one if necessary.

It will barely be necessary, everything revolves around grinding for materials that make your numbers go up like any other predatory gacha.
You can auto-battle literally any battle that lets you do it and you will win because it's purely dependent on your numbers being high enough, the ability to manually control battles is basically just "press x to win" over and over

I would say the level/resource wall is real. Ignoring the level requirement to fight the first boss, some fights you can beat lower level than intended, but as enemies get higher leveled they start cranking out more damage than you can take which is the game telling you to come back later when you're at the next level/skill level cap. I do not find this to be an issue personally because generally, after coming back the next day and leveling up my party they aren't an issue anymore. But I understand how this can be unsatisfying.
The fusion system is different, you can't like fuse and de-fuse to get stat bonuses, and Personas have individual level caps. Skill inheritance is mostly done through getting copies of a Persona and spending those copies to pass on one of those skills to another Persona. If you are looking for a raw SMT challenge this game won't give you that. No matter how good you are, numbers don't lie.
