Game went P2W years ago and went through a years long period (might still be going IDK) where defensive advantage was enormous resulting in large scale PVP becoming very rare
>>714274952
Its not truly P2W but i get what you mean. They just recently altered null mechanics and apparently its kicked off a new war so it may be fixed
>>714275449
Do you still have that character? Feeling late is kinda only a newbro thing. It takes little time to catch up and player are always taking breaks so it's not like you have to compete

love the music and the aesthetic of this game, hate everything else
i like the idea of playing an mmo alone but with still trading and having short relationships with the other people
this game doesn't allow you to do that, the entire game is designed for big alliances\guilds with thousands of people
im so sad there isn't a singleplayer offline variant of EVE
I play it for a month or two a year. Tell myself I'll get right into it, cruising through WH and Null, with a full industry set-up to back it up. Maybe join a WH corp, maybe do something that isn't L4 missions in a domi for once.
But I dunno, after a bit the novelty of 'spaceship game' wears off and I realise I'm spending 4 hrs with little to show for it, and I burn out.
Not exactly a critcism of the game, just not for me. Don't want to join an organisation, I basically want EVE on a smaller scale.
The Mandalorian springs to mind, a guy in his ship with maybe some others, going to a guy who runs a little repair hub, offering a job to take out players who are operating in X system.
>>714276545
to add to this, Elite Dangerous scratched the itch for a while but mostly because it was in VR. Other than how cool it was to be inside the spaceship and operating it, the gameplay is dull.
I'm too stupid for X4 from what I can tell.
Getting a Deck in the next few days will try ED out again, maybe everspace or something like that.
Have any you lot tried the EVE phone verison? Anygud?
>>714276018
You tried to play it like a themepark mmo which I'm sure everyone warned you not to do.
>i like the idea of playing an mmo alone but with still trading and having short relationships with the other people
The funny thing is, that type of gameplay exists in the big alliances\guilds with thousands of people. Its just an infastructure network, you can jump in group fleets or do group activities if you want but the majority just do their own thing solo under their protection umbrella. Only the small corps are super social. Also once you aren't shit at the game you can go truly solo if you want but its safer just to do solo activities while in a big corp.
Last point, only the outer ring is controlled by the big player empires. Pic related is todays sovereignty map
>>714276545 >>714276825
Honestly just join a nullblock corp like KarmaFleet or pandemic horde. I always burn out in highsec >>714276825
Have you tried no mans sky or star citizen? EVE is better but it may scratch the itch.
>>714277215
It’s a massive time investment and all the fun is hundreds of hours away from the start. There are so many mechanics that many of them will be complete mystery to you unless you specialize in them. You have to watch tutorials to understand how crucial mechanics work. I used to listen to EVE University audio courses to understand targeting, tracking and market. And the most important reason it to play, is the universe needs a huge population for it to work, and it hovers around 30k players and it’s not in common for vets to run 5 accounts at once. The universe is stale; you can load it up after a 5 year break and see the same players camping the same gates.

It's not a good game for most people because they will spend most of their time mining or running PvE sites which is horrendously boring. I had fun though >Join goons, alternate playing in null and Jita .01isking >Make ~70b from the Jita trading >Buy sleeper loot before a patch made it more valuable, net worth goes up to ~500b >Run a ponzi scheme in goons, cash out for another 200b >Start a Wormhole corp, get about 50 people in it, get bored of the game so I shut everyone out of the towers, haul everything out with my alts and sell it for another 80b >My old corp members hire a WH merc corp to evict me, not knowing I've moved everything out of the towers >I hire the goon WH corp to ambush the merc corp >Sell my characters and RMT out of the game for $4.5k
>>714277613
Next time I feel like popping back in I'll do on condition I join one of the blobs or a WH corp. Unless they do something new and cool with solo content or something more to exploration. >>714277613 >Have you tried no mans sky
I'll put it on my list, over the years I've not been sure it'd be my thing but from what I've heard the devs did a really good job at sorting it out. >star citizen?
no lmao
>>714277741
SOV changes made delve not big condensed enough to hold the Imperium/goons. They moved and now have moved again. But just a few days ago they finally gave a funeral/destroyed the 1DQ keepstar with 3804 people in rifters. CCP made its wreck a monument.(pic related)
>>714274467 (OP)
I tried to play this but I realized every job option is literally the exact same thing mechanically, it's just that some have more risks that ship customization is very limited.
The big ship battles seem fun but you have to get past a retarded amount of grinding and be butt buddies in a discord or something to be able to participate in them afaik so I just stopped.
Cool ideas but there just is nothing mechanically interesting about it, it's more about the "idea" of it I think, other than the big space battles. Just a dull game
>>714277841
Thats true. Time sink is insane and the game needs an influx of new blood but its just an impossible itch to scratch. Its the best game out there if you commit.
>>714274467 (OP) >>714274952
Yeah, the problem was that it became a nothing-ever-happens simulator after all the big stories transpired. No insane million-dollar battles or seeing fleets try to challenge Concord even after mechanics to kick the GM's pet faction were added.
>>714275406
Blockade Runners, their idea is align to warp and get away fast (I think under 1 or 2 seconds alight time iirc???). They also cloak. They are paper thin though, so a tornado gank will pop you instantly. Despite that imo they're worth it. Also never use autopilot for jumping, warp right straight to gate.
>>714278307
Star citizen isn't terrible for what it is but i would never sink more money than the on sale starter pack i got. No mans sky is at least relaxing but its not really my thing. >Next time I feel like popping back in I'll do on condition I join one of the blobs or a WH corp
I'd go blops. Wormhole life is just burnout city.
>>714279365 >Not bad but 4.5k is seriously not good enough for that wealth.
I could have gotten $9 instead of $7 per billion isk if I sold more slowly, but I was paranoid about CCP catching me before I finished RMTing through playerauctions >Also RMT for all that effort seems like a waste.
You're right, but I wasn't playing the game to make money. I was just bored of it so I figured I might as well get what I can when I quit
>>714279793
Just one? Warp stabs and Interdiction Nullifier. More than one and you're fucked. This is my build it's pretty standard but I operate highsec
>>714274467 (OP)
MMOs are no longer novel and nobody has the time or desire to rent a job simulator. If they do, they can buy (once) "[job] Simulator [year]". https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LmS9vcVNr5A&pp=ygUWRXZlIG9ubGluZSBleHBlcmllbmNlIA%3D%3D
Nobody is going to pay money for this experience. >Vid is 9 years old
Has it gotten any better?
>>714280073
Only been killed by a tornado with big ass guns at Jita, maybe twice? Dead before the station even loaded in (on an SSD) Otherwise going back and forth from Amarr to Jita I'm too speedy and quick on the cloak & mwd hotkeys. Think I transported a max of 500m - 700m or so of implants and other misc high value crap
>try Eve with a gang of ss13/ss14 players >no new good stuff since last time i tried (still wormholes, FW, nullsec) >pay for skillpoints (absolutely haram) >best isk/hr is RMT'ing, only other reason to iskmaxx is being an f2p poorfag >economy so inflated people are throwing around 0.5-2B fits like candy and making 1b/hr with 20 toons >multiboxers running 10-ship gank fleets or 20 freighter haulerblobs >someone bitching on reddit about having to relog their 120+ wormhole spy alts
This game survived long enough to become a twisted mockery of itself. There is nothing good left.
>>714283036
I can refute this, EVE has raised my heart rate more than any other game. And no not "Every job is just waiting and clicking". Honestly did you even log in to the game?
I like playing EVE as a casual hisec carebear, mining and ratting. I'll admit I'm not really the ideal target audience. I don't like PVP because I'm bad at it and I don't have the time / interest / energy to invest in learning how to pvp. I'm fine just looking at my pretty spaceships, mining here or there, and disappearing for months.
