For the first time in my life instead of dualbooting linux for a few weeks and then deleting, I am running only linux on my ssd and I'm loving it and don't think I will be switching back to Windows unless Microsoft somehow fixes it.

The transition from Windows to Linux is like the transition from 30 fps to 60 fps. You don't really realize how slow Windows is until you use something else.

The UI is so much faster and smooth than Windows and every game I've tried has worked with no issues.(Fedora + KDE btw)

MS raised the cpu requirement from 8th gen Intel core minimum to 11th gen with the latest version of Windows 11, so that cuts off a lot of people from upgrading. Assuming they don't install 11 LTSC which doesn't have those requirements.

Nope, it's simply because Linux paths are case sensitive. So mods would have "different" file names than what's specified in their config.

Linux distros aren't really broken, but they do ALL have absolutely fuck-horrible user experience.
No matter the desktop environment. NO fucking exception they're all like 20 years in the past.

>download a file or try to upload a file
>for some fucked up reason the file picker is not the same as the file browser
>no thumbnails in this one
If I want to upload a specific picture on 4chan I have to literally go there in the normal file browser myself and drag it here. The "open file" shit doesn't show thumbnails.

It's really mental how trash the quality of life of any linux distro is.

Win11 is worse than Win10 in everything
In every single thing
I say this as someone who actually used it since it first appeared when you poor jeets didn't even have a compatible PC
Win11 is the most bugged windows I've ever seen (we're not talking about Vista, it was just unstable)
It's retarded, it's bad, some of the bugs persist FOR YEARS
THEY CAN'T FUCKING FIX SMALL ANNOYING BUGS FOR YEARS
And they keep adding worthless features that break something even more and then they don't it too

Windows 11 is quite literally the most disgusting OS to ever been crafted by humankind, because it's purposefully designed to be as obnoxious and disgusting as possible, macos for example has terrible UX, but at least you can see that they're not purposefully making a terrible OS, but being somewhat harmstrung by management not allowing them to have much things per release, but holy shit, literally who in the fucking hell thought that making the whole OS a fucking browser window was a good idea?

Just give it a try. It's a normal desktop OS like Windows, once you decide on a distro (just go with default Ubuntu if you can't decide) and install it, you don't have to "learn" anything any more than you had to learn Windows or your phone OS.

There's zero chance of this happening since Microsoft is spreading their cheeks to AI, hard. It's going to be more bloated than 11, AI nonsense built into the OS and thrown into everything, uninstallable Copilot, etc.

this was because post ww2 japan rapidly modernized and became world renowned for building the best tech
i think these lines from back to the future 3 with 1950s doc epitomizes it
>doc: no wonder this circuit failed, it says "made in japan"
>marty: what do you mean, doc. all the best stuff is made in japan
>doc: unbelievable
by the 90s though, japan entered the lost decades, where their economy stopped growing and they fell behind, plus their population started aging meaning less young people with new tech adoption getting into the industry. just a higher ratio of old boomers maintaining the old status quo that was cutting edge decades ago. the illusion persisted into the 2000s, but these days i think most people are aware that japan is lagging behind in tech literacy.

You can glash an ISO and put it on any compatible device. They want you, BEG you to use Windows. Has nothing to do with income, and in fact being poor more likley means you're going to be using the grody mass public metro equivalent to an OS, Windows.

Linux is like Modding a Fallout game

Most of the time you have more fun modding and trying to get the mods to work rather than actually playing the game
Then when you go to play the game you get bored
>t. Tried Linux Mint, thought it was okay, then went back to windows 10
I went back to windows 10 because when i download something it works, i dont have to scroll through old forums to find my awnser every time
>But what about microsoft
Set up a local account
>But what about performance and it being slow
Windows De-Bloater on github
>But support is ending in October 2025
Massgrave.dev-->Change windows version --> Windows Enterprise or Windows LTSC
You can even change it to a server version of windows 10 for support until 2038 if you want

However, i am *never* moving to 1, maybe windows 12 judging by microsofts pattern of releasing one shit OS and then one gppd OS right after

another place we can see this is in the cyberpunk genre which is defined by the late 1980s/early90s fears of japanese electronics corporations overtaking the american economy and dominating global industry. sort of like our silicon valley big tech does these days.

Windows never gives me the issues you mention, probably because when you search for something it does that retarded Bing Internet search right?
Just disable that with windows debloater, suddenly the search bar works like a search bar

I dont blame people for switching because microsoft is retarded, but most if not all of thier retardation you can bypass or disable/turn off with this

I'm thinking of giving Linux another try. I've been hearing that they've gotten much better for gaming. I hate Microsoft as a company and I think that it would be great for civilization as a whole if they became a legendary lesson in hubris.

I hope you guys also realize on the final issue there, that is proof that jeets and AI are slopping things into the microsoft c and c++ compiler breaking shit all over the place unchecked right now

you can just witness copilot make its own pull requests to the dotnet repo and the jeets try to wrangle it repeatedly in comments/reviews, but the other is a unchecked and hidden can of worms.

Yeah dude, I have a couple perfectly good computers that Microsoft is trying to tell me needs to go landfill because it can't handle Windows 11. Like dude, I installed linux on one of them recently and it's going way faster than it ever did with Windows 10. My computer was never the problem, it was Windows that was the problem all along. They keep making it slower by introducing "features" that no one wants.

The next decade is going to be terrible for computers running Windows and macOS, because you're going to have mandatory AI crap baked into the OS that will make it impossible to stick with a computer made five years ago.

did you not understand the point of my post?
using 16% was in no way me saying "you have a lot of unused RAM that means its bad"
it was me telling you how having 0% swap in a system with 64GB ram is fucking useless
even back when my old pc had 8GB RAM i never used swap on my linux distros because it was not necessary, the devices never froze of reached max ram usage, for that same reason you're gloating about: linux is more efficient with ram than windows so you can do more with less.
you're just a dumb fucking retard who doesn't understand what the main purpose of swap was, stop trying to turn this into "hurrr you must be windows user for seeing low ram usage durrr", otherwise you're not getting further replies from me if you're going to deflect like such a retard.

You're a fucking retard with a reading comprehension of a street shitting Indian, I told you that there are workloads that use up to 64 GiB of RAM and having efficient swap space is great in that cases, but browsing 4chinz and arguing with cum guzzlers like you isn't quite such workload so it sits there waiting for its turn, and since it's a fucking zram it doesn't take space on disk like traditional zram nor does it hurt the performance because of efficient memory management, and you would've understood that if you weren't brown.

Have you heard about windows 11?
That ship has sailed. Turns out they can't earn enough money without forcing people to upgrade and selling new system.

Pushing cached files to ZRAM and back takes less time than having to read all that shit again, even from an NVME. And keeping an extra GB or two completely unused also helps for when you ever play a bing bing wahoo, as memory allocation is faster.
ZRAM has compression ratios of 2.5-3.0 for me at compression level 1.
It's basically free RAM.

Microsoft announced Windows Defender for Windows 10 is getting support til 2028 now. I think they are starting to face the music no one fucking wants Windows 11. If this is the case I think I'll just stick with 10. If I get security updates still there is no loss.

Except they are pushing huge costs onto businesses by forcing them to modernize old hardware that works fine. Plus the new hardware is way less secure. UEFI security bugs, TPM for tracking hardware over the internet, Microsoft recall which is basically them making you pay to process spying data on you. It's all bullshit.
