>>714290250 (OP)>How did it surpass PS2 in popularity and cultural relevance? The PS3 was so bad that it retroactively tanked the PS2's cultural relevance. I'm being serious here.
The PS3 released in 2006, however it did not receive its first videogame until 2009 (Demon Souls). During this three year period, the console wars escalated rapidly. Sensing weakness, the Nintendo and Xbox fanbases relentlessly mocked the PS3. The PS3 has nogaems. And there was no defense, for the PS3 indeed had zero videogames during this three year period.
Anyone who spent 599 US dollars on the PS3 felt like a retard, and that includes myself. We all regretted our purchase, and many people lost their fanboyism altogether. That is to say; the number of Playstation fanboys decreased overall as a result of the PS3's nogaems. Less fanboys, less cultural relevance.
