That's a good sign though.
With these kinds of small details that are meant to help with immersion they ARE supposed to be unnoticeable.
You'd never think twice about the soundscape of ScarVio because it sounds natural, it sounds how it's supposed to sound.
If they'd done a shit job you would immediately be able to tell and it'd be unbearably distracting.

In Emerald you can hear the cries of Pokemon currently eligible to appear. So the Pokemon you hear are the ones that are actually around, and not the ones who you "should" hear based on normal real-world logic. I think this is a better system, they just should've brought it back.
Doesn't the way SV does it imply that all the encounter pools are arbitrary game-isms and the Pokemon you "should" be seeing correlate to the normal animals you should see in the area? That's pretty lame, no?

I want to replay the game, is emulation or switch 2 the better version?

It's pretty crazy to study various real world ecosystems first-hand so you can recreate them for your made up world filled with exclusively fictional creatures for which you came up with the sounds yourself.
Any other game could just throw on countryside_nightscape_ambiance.mp4 and be done with it.

That's essentially how it works in Scarlet and Violet too, just with all the additional bells and whistles OP mentioned.
The cries you hear are also based on distance between you and the Pokemon and they take the environment into account when outputting with a certain kind of reverb.
Pokemon will also reply to each other's cries if they're in the same area and it makes sense for them to do so.

There shouldn't have to be "bells and whistles". If the Pokemon isn't active at night, I shouldn't be hearing its cry at night because it shouldn't be in the encounter pool at night in the first place, not because it's a mammal and thus "should probably be active during the day".
If Game Freak feels that the existing encounter pools don't give enough of a sense of a realistic ecosystem (suspension of disbelief permitting), they should FIX THE ENCOUNTER POOLS.

SV are unironically much better than SS. Why is gamefreak so fucking bad at making it run good though.
The thing is I'm willing to give a lot of leeway on graphics in pokemon but yikes its ugly.
Game mechanics wise I think SV was a baby step in the right direction at least.

game needs a "native" switch 2 port to deal with the remaining texture issues, but otherwise the game is even more stable than yuzu with a patch. even bad games require more than double for stability when it comes to emulation
