I saw other anons saying Subnautica 1 was an unexpected success in spite of the creators being there, not because of them. IIRC, the guys that just got sacked were the ones who were hard up on injecting their personal (woke) politics into the games, too.

Callisto Protocol was ultra woke. the white male "protagonist" spend the entire game getting rescued, lectured and insulted by the girlboss. he even sacrefices himself at the end so that she can go because he says she is more important and heroic then him

seems like the new game will have no story or really bland storytelling and zero handcrafted content since it is now one of those mulitplayer crafting games.

The map is still made in the same way.
They've repeatedly said the multiplayer is the secondary way to play. Things are balanced for singleplayer first.
If you don't actually know something, don't just randomly spew bullshit.,

iirc the order went like this >Game already didn't feature any guns, lines stating that the only weapon is a knife because the setting is a corporate dystopia were already present >Sandy Hook happens >wokey dev tweets that no guns are in game because of school shootings and guns r bad
So I'm pretty sure it was more virtue signalling and taking advantage of how things already were than a decision made because of politics. Game is better without them anyway.
Real problem is the sacking of the sound designer over tweets.

Basic gist is the guy was a classic /pol/ shitposter on twitter and was fired because of it. Attack Helicopter memes, joked about diversity slider, that kind of thing. This was, iirc, after basically all of Subnautica was finished but before BZ was announced.

He means the devs don't actually have a problem with guns, they were just virtue signalers.
And also you don't need guns to kill things in the game.
