It really, really isn't. Sonic's story is just kinda sorta okay-ish, outside of the mach speed sections. Shadow's is just Sonic's but slower and more cutscene heavy, and Silver's is complete dogshit no matter how you spin it. On what planet is that the same quality from beginning to end? '06 is the definition of "mixed bag", and that's being very, very generous.

It has one major chokepoint, and that's just the medal collecting. The rest of the time it's pacing is on par with SA1's. I'd say it's far more consistent than '06, at the very fucking least.
