Serious question, why is MMX almost never in the running for best game of all time? It should be a no-brainer but quite a few lists omit it.

This is my comfort game. I go back and replay it every once in a while when I'm feeling blue. It's so satisfying that I can even have fun doing Chill Penguin's stage last, if I want a slower pace. I love Mega Man X

There are too many sacred cows for top 10s and MMX has competition with the Zero series, both of which are great in their own right.

actually just replayed it this morning, it's definitely one of the best games ever made.

I actually deliberately got the boots and then suicided a few times so I could try a different path from the standard one. sometimes I legit forget that flame mammoth's stage is supposed to be, yknow, on fire

Shit level design, shit enemy design, shit boss design, shit controls, shit poorly-balanced Simon Says gameplay, piss-easy 2 hour long babygame with zero replayability.

while x1 is a 10/10, there are no new megaman games to make new fans.

It's too easy outside of sigma. Locking dash in a random stage sucks for new players who dont know an essestial kit piece is right there.

It's one of the most fun platformers I've played , the other X games don't really compare and just devolves into spike spam and intentionally bad game design which is kinda sad

X1 is excellent and definitely a landmark title for action platformers in particular. One of the best games ever? Yes. Top 10? Ehhhh. See, X1 has no real glaring flaws, but in the 30 years since it's release, it's been outdone even by it's own series. X2 is the better game overall and the Zero series absolutely mogs the X series in general.

I still come back to it frequently though and have beaten it more times than I can count, including on an original SNES.

we used to raid polls to fuck with them just like this, I guess they couldn't handle the fact that the troll option that actually had traction was actually well liked by twitter/tumblr users (even if it still pissed off the gamefaqs users, the important thing)
