The problem was that Rare's output was slowing down drastically, they were making games that the Japanese market saw no appeal to (Conker and Killer Instinct never came out there), their latest projects at the time had rocky development, etc

Rare admitted they went with Diddy for marketing appeal.

The controls filtered everyone and it was up against Perfect Dark.

Miyamoto gave them the option to use the Star Fox license and they accepted. The development teams were being taken off 64 projects to work on early GameCube titles so Dinosaur Planet ended up the way it was because it was cobbled together last minute.

Stop trying to paint Rare as victims.
