Corpos wanted a piece of the pie. When the Xbox One launched Microsoft tried to made it a digital-only console but gamers at the time complained en mass and made Microsoft install a disc drive. Fast forward a decade and the majority of games sold are digital copies which cost more than a disc. The corpos got their way eventually, you will own nothing and you will be happy.
