Microsoft is dead (has been for like a year and a half now). Shit games, studio closures and general disorder.
Sony's live service initiative screwed them. Bungie was a waste of money, and the live service games they have left are all set to do concord numbers. Their budgets are ass, and games that would succeed because they sell ten million are not because of the budgets.
Square Enix has nothing (Ok, maybe DQ will do something for them) FF is a dying franchise and every other game they release sells like shit (mostly thanks to SE not supplying copies, advertising or because they put it on a platform no one cares for). The only game keeping them alive is now also dying.
Final Fantasy is, as I said, dying, it's a has been franchise whose greatness is long gone. Used to be able to sell consoles and game copies now it struggles to sell game copies. It is getting outsold by things like SMRPG and Pikmin.
Third parties (Japs) are either dying, dead, or bowing with only a few being able to do as they please. The days of third parties dictating which console succeeds are gone and now what platform you are on dictates if a game sells or crashes and burns.
The reason that Nintendo has not fallen into some of the worst industry pitfalls is because of Yamauchi.

I was talking about this earlier but its crazy that nintendo was the first of the big 3 and will be the last one standing of the big 3. Xbox really only had the 360 era and stayed irrelevant for the rest of the console war.

ironically enough that was also when xbox live arcade allowed JP AAs and indies to thrive with close to zero censorship (beyond the usual rating boards bullshit)
at this point console wars have been won and lost given on which console has the JP AA and indie market with the OG wii being possibly the only exception
