The crash was localized entirely to America, and because companies would mass-produce cheap games consoles with the same glut of trash games, so parents couldn't understand what to buy for their kid, and so became disgusted by the sheer amount of bullshit outputted, and video games were treated as a fad.

You know what ended the crash? The Nintendo Entertainment System. A games console with remarkably and notably GOOD games, branded with the Nintendo Seal of Quality that told consumers these games were actually playable and unique and not the horde of shovelware garbage found on literally every other system. Nintendo's success inspired Sega's success, then Sony's, then Microsoft's.

And nowadays there's industry darlings that have exceptional sales, even as AAA producers crash and burn because they produce shite. Fromsoft games are practically guaranteed to sell. Sonic's reached a new renaissance. Persona games are guaranteed to sell, even despite Atlus' incompetence. And Nintendo's still going strong, even after all this time.

There won't be another crash. Ever.
