If you're allowing Animus to attack on his own you've fucked up. He's weaker when he's possessing Gnoster or Faurtis, and him possessing Gnoster is MUCH easier to deal with. Down the bugs, put the moth in the ground, and when Animus brings it back swat it out of the sky. Just ignore the scorpion.

Not exactly sure, but it seems like Animus can only be damaged by fire effect/dot when he controls Gnoster/Faurtis. Poison and regular physical damage only seems to affect his host.

Not really, dude. It is so easy to get like 4-6 starlight shards and that will last you for an entire fight, more than it. I literally just did a boss as Duchess, walked in there with 6, used 3. You get 2 from vendors (unlimited from the special vendor), and then like 2-4 per Rise. Literally just running past 1 random vendor + 1 rise sets you up, and if not you should have excess runes to buy 2 shards at the end.

It's an excessive amount of FP and you should be getting enough starlight shards to last the entire nightlord from merchants or 1/2 rises anyway. If you're playing in a group people will likely buy some for you anyway.

I already beat all Nightlords a couple weeks ago. The game is over for me. I don't know if I got my $40 worth, but it was a fun distraction for the time. A new currency to buy the same handful of skins is not a progression system that appeals to me, and adding more AOEs to the bosses when 60% of them were bad anyway is gay.

this boss is actually ridiculously easy. their easiest "challenge mode" boss yet, i beat it 2 times and am already bored of it and cant wait for next weeks update to change the challenge mode boss. Its mostly just super tanky.

This boss is the epitome of "annoying but not hard". I'm not hating it, I'm just saying that's kind of the point. You have to aggro the moth or fartmonster while the other two are fighting whatever Animus possessed so it doesn't bother them. Solo you can't do that so it's pretty annoying, but it doesn't really matter if the moth goes pew pew! pew pew! POCKET SAND! *fwsshshh ding ding ding*

Check boxes for more shards throughout day 1-2, towers always have them. Buy small pouch and 2 starlight shards from a merchant day 2. Buy another 2 shards day 3, should have at least 4-6 shards day 3 for final boss and u can use them to cast spells without running out of mana.

duchess cant reasonably restore mana in fights without the shards, but she is arguably a better character and sorcery caster overall than recluse(mage) for FP(mana) dumping the last boss when you have the good spells + shards.
Recluse arguably has higher potential overall if she combines her ult with comet azur, or crystal torrent, but its kind of a meme because setting it up is too much work / have to get lucky in terms of getting the spell and getting the situation perfect to get the ult off at a time you the boss stands in place not attacking you and letting you shoot a lazer in the same place for 10+ seconds. its cool when it happens but its a meme.

While duchess technically has higher DPS due to dex/cast speed, cast speed is a relatively common drop on weapon modifiers. Giving you the same cast speed as Dutchess at +2. Ideally though they should just implement a recluse only relic effect to increase her cast speed so you don't have to rely on RNG

i was just telling you the spells that recluse excels at compared to duchess.

Recluse is S in int, duchess is A in int. Duchess does 90% the spell damage as recluse but also has the best dodge in the game, and can snapshot a 3 second window of ALL damage a boss took from all players and make the boss take 50-60% of it all over again. she is arguably better for damage, including spell damage, than recluse. the only exception to this would be spells like comet azur or crystal torrent which recluse can hold down for longer because of her FP regeneration from her ult, (duchess could buy a flask to do same thing too btw)

not only can duchess compete and even beat recluse when doing spell damage but she can also use melee weapons and status builds quite well if she doesnt get a good spell. she os overall just a better character than recluse, the only real thing recluse has going for herself over duchess is the training wheels FP regen from her skill. otherwise she is just plainly a sub par character compared to duchess.

And because you're focussing on Duchess you're forgetting incants, mixed scaling spells, charge spells that incur heavy extra cost (increased charge sorcs is one of the biggest damage increases found on gear) and that the Ult regen applies to everybody.
And let's not pretend Recluse's dodge is bad by any metric, it's only worse than Duchess'.

There have been like 5 updates max since launch and it has been majority bug fixes. The current enhanced bosses are actually content that was already in the game files at launch, which is why the rest are delayed for now while they are developed.

I hate doing it, it's boring. You really gimp yourself on passives potential because the rewards are moslty awful and they spend more time running across empty map than actually doing stuff.
I leave the relic on because they're so obnoxiously common that to skip it makes those runs absolute hell.
Recluse is god awful because it does basically nothing for them too.

So this fight is really just the same as the normal version but way longer? The possessed versions don't really feel any different to fight, sure I guess they do some moves twice but most of their shit was easy to dodge in the first place, and it doesn't seem like you can do anything directly to the third bug except for the short window when it's in the possession animation since it just disappears.

Stock up on Starlight Shards.
The main thing that'll kill a run is whether or not you're comfortable with the cast time of a spell. Pebble, Slicer, Catch Flame, and Bestial Sling are your R1s, everything else is an R2 or slower. The best ones are all slower so ideally you get used to it.
Turn off autotarget in settings. Webm rel, it's on by default and makes some spells unusable at a distance.
Rally relic puts in a ton of work with multihit spells. Getting hit while spamming Magic Downpour or Rancorcall will have most of the damage healed by the time you stand back up.
If you find Burn O Flame, you win. Even as Duchess. Even against fire resistant bosses. The damage is unreal.
