Daggers are the lamest shit ever and they are civilian self-defense weaponsa nd mugger weapons, not weapons of war. You can't penetrate an ogres or minotaurs hide with a dinky little dagger.
Bows and crossbows can be cool though.

well., one cannot penetrate with bad dagger, as well as with bad sword, bad arrows, or weak magic. but you can do, with big dabadum enchanted magic mythreel dagger of great dragon.

Because lazy design in PVE of most MMORPGS usually makes anything else than dealing damage, tanking damage or healing damage irrevelant because for example bosses are totally immune to all cc and most of debuffs.
So basically class that gives up damage for crowd control is useless because crowd control is irrevelant that means you give up damage for practically nothing useful.
