Has VR any must have games yet or is it still basically useless?
>>714364836 (OP)VR is must have for any flight and driving sims. Normalfaggot genres have no games.
Blade and Sorcery
H3
Then thereล a wide gap because many devs only want to do limited Quest games but Hellsweeper is decent.
UEVR and modders saved VR
fuck Meta in the ass
>>714364836 (OP)I haven't played many VR games, but Half-Life: Alyx is mindblowing. I'm playing through it right now and knowing that I'm near the ending, I wish it had more firefights against Combine soldiers. Hopefully some of the mods fill in that gap.
VR isn't useless, but it's like the early days of PC gaming; Not without obstacles and flaws but it's definitely a step into the future. Getting into VR now is still the equivalent of beta testing new technology in my opinion. It's fun and it's nice to get a head start and get your brain adapted to VR, but headsets will evolve quite a bit into something more compact and feature rich before it truly becomes mainstream.
Underdogs is really fun if you can put up with the constant ghetto British slang
>>714364836 (OP)I've been searching for a new vr game to play for years but it's still the same few games from around 2018 that are the only ones worth playing like Half Life Alyx, and a handful of golf games.
>>714364836 (OP)Silent Hill 2 Remake
Elden Ring Shadow of the3 Erdtree
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
every game is VR now, modders have solved it
>>714365984Modded VR games don't count. They are not made with VR in mind and are terribly janky, use crutches to work and are barely playable. Even official 2D to VR conversions are like that.
>>714366107well I enjoyed all those games, they ran smoothly and were perfectly playable.
stop being a drama queen, you must have a weak PC
I've unironically been having a shit ton of fun with beat saber
people often tell you to wait until VR becomes "good" but it's already good, it's crazy how it morphs your brain to accept VR environments as real. sure there aren't quite enough VR games out there, but just the feeling of having experienced VR and having become accustomed to it is insane
>open waifu model in Blender
>click on VR option
>>714366296Playing beat saber with a cute girl avatar is the best!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flAsTHJ6mlU
>>714366740Wouldn't it be easier to just play as a girl in VRChat. How the fuck do you play Beatsaber in 3rd person?
System Shock remake, very much recommended
needs UEVR profile/mod
I'm considering buying it just for iracing.
>>714366107Trying to control a 3D game with dual analog is significantly more jank than VR or MKB.
Modded VR games are perfectly fine.
Playing shooters while wearing wrist weights.
>>714364836 (OP)Blade and Sorcery
Into the Radius (2)
Elite Dangerous, though there's only VR in the ship last time I played.
Skyrim VR, though you'll have to mod the shit out of it to make it not feel like ass when you're used to B&S combat.
>>714364836 (OP)the porn, thats it for except a couple of games you play once and then never touch again
>VR has been around for a million years
>Still does not have one (1) JRPG
>>714366850Good recommendation, but I already played it. Not all the way through yet though. The combat is enjoyable, but different. In HLA the Combine appear more intimidating and have more interesting tactical variety. HL2VR is good but after playing HLA, I can see why HLA has slower combat and more cramped levels.
>>714364836 (OP)Gran Turismo 7, that's it
>>714364836 (OP)alyx is a must have
but wait for deckard which will likely get a new valve vr game, every day is one day closer to deckard, it's probably next year...
quest3 doesn't have enough must have titles and they have aggressive spying, so i'll wait for non zucked vr
>>714366893It's in first person. 3rd person camera is so that other people can stare at your butt while you play.
So far half life alyx on the index was honestly quite good.
>get to the combine ship at the end
>gravity gloves allow you to pull electricity of the wall and chuck it at stuff
Kino as fuck
>>714375148alyx was also 5 years ago, and we've only got a few notable titles since that are either compromised in polish from being indies (Arken Age, Vertigo 2), or compromised in complexity from being AA (Behemoth, Hitman VR)
>>714364836 (OP)Facebook killed VR
zucc bought all the devs and made them work on mobile shit
You could've had multiple HL:Alyx's by now, instead you've got pic related
>>714376329Nobody stopped people from making a proper shooter with h3vr mechanics. Zuck has nothing to do with the fact that normalniggers don't want good VR games.
>Finally get a high-end PC after years of waiting for prices to drop
>boot up the highest rated, 500gb "peak graphics" Skyrim VR mod, replacing every single model and texture in the game with 4k versions and completely overhauling the shaders and lighting
>it still looks like ass because it's Skyrim
>>714371836yeah might as well just play VRChat, at least there everyone can stare at each others avatar freely
>>714376489But they're actually playing a videogame.
>>714366850Only people who think it's better than Alyx are those who never played HL2 before. HL2 is better without VR, VR makes it wonky and poorly balanced. Just play it normally, and play Alyx in VR.
>>714376425wrong
zucc hired all the VR devs he could. He bought all the VR game companies. He even bought up supply chains he didn't need so no other company could get involved in VR. He basically sucked all the air out of the VR industry and became the sole gatekeeper for what gets made and he has SHIT taste so here we are
>>714376634Wonky and poorly balanced makes for a more videogame-y experience than the carefully curated cinematic encounters of Alyx. Plus I miss jumping.
arguments year ago when 1% of PCfags owned VR headsets
>it's too expensive
>it's too heavy
>too many wires
>not enough games
Arguments now when all of that was fixed but % of users didn't go up
>ummm it's not a device that puts you in a coma and hijacks your brain like they do in anime
PCfags just don't want to admit that they're fat and lazy, that's the real reason. They don't want full immersion, it's too much work.
>>714376932>Wonky and poorly balanced makes for a more videogame-y experienceThat makes no fucking sense. HL2 isn't supposed to be wonky and poorly balanced, play the good version not the shitty one.
>>714364836 (OP)It's got half life Alyx, Blade and Sorcery, and Arkham: Shadows
that's about it
a more concerning trend in VR gaming is the amount of FAT FUCKS who get VR but avoid VR games like the plague
they only play VR modded flat screen games while sitting on their ass and whine about having to move around in real VR games
also FUCK VRCHATRANNIES FREAKS YWNBAW
>>714376634based play as intended player
>>714376818Lol. Valve has the best developers in the world. Where are all the good VR games made by them?
There's a lot of games to play, but there is very weak marketing on most of them because the only people making them are small indie studios with few exceptions like Half-Life Alyx, Arkham or Metro, so you're unlikely to hear about any of them.
Some notable games that are worth playing that aren't mentioned above: Ancient Dungeon VR, Vertigo Remastered, Vertigo 2, Duck Season, Boneworks, Bonelab Arizona Sunshine Remastered, Arizona Sunshine 2, Paint the Town Red VR, Halo CE VR Mod (Not the Unreal 'fan game'), Superhot VR, Vendetta, and Compound.
Games I would say that people claim are good like Amid Evil VR, Escape Simulator, and Phasmophobia are terrible. A separate subject could be grind slop to be found in VRChat.
>>714364836 (OP)>Half-Life Alyx>Beat Saber>Alien Isolation Mother VR mod>Alien Rogue Incursion>Rush of Blood>Switchback>Borderlands 2 VR>Gran Turismo 7 (even better with a wheel setup)>RE4>REVII>RE Village>RE4 Remake>Madison>Trover Saves the Universe>Astro Bot Rescue >Virt-a-MatePlenty more, but those are the ones that are popping up off the top of my head.
>>714368634>Skyrim VRAt my most pathetic, I once sat around in the Winking Skeever in VR, getting IRL drunk, and listening to Oneyplays compilations.
>>714376938It feels like if we had stuck with the 90s or early 2000s design philosophy for PC games, we would have more compelling VR conversions.
Context sensitive canned animations don't seem like they'd translate as well as more cursor oriented interaction.
>>714376634>HL2 is better without VR, VR makes it wonky and poorly balancedOn the contrary, flat HL2 is too easy even on hard. VR makes it harder in a right way, level design start to matter.
>>714367197don't buy wireless for sim racing. It's serviceable but there's better headsets for it. A PSVR2 is better than a Q3 for cockpit games
>>714369158play the HL1 mod for ep2, and minerva mod for ep1
>>714364836 (OP)If you're a gooner, give KoikatsuVR a try
>>714364836 (OP)my best experiences with vr have been
>fear 1 (Vorpx)>subnautica (dedicated mod)>alien isolation (dedicated mod)>black mesa (Vorpx)>cyberpunk 2077 (Vorpx)>dead space 1 and 2 (Vorpx)>deus ex HR and MD (Vorpx)>HL2 VR>Into the Radius VR>Metro series (Vorpx)>Scorn (UEVR)>Witcher 3 (Vorpx)>Bioshock series (Vorpx)>system shock remade (UEVR)>resident evil 2, 7, 8 (dedicated mod) with a few exceptions mostly seated play with traditional controls. The waggle sticks make the gameplay much slower and clumsier compared to a traditional mouse and keyboard
so if you cant find anything to do with your headset then that clearly is a (you) problem
>>714364836 (OP)it's okay for porn, but not enough stuff is being made for it really. But what the technology itself is capable of is very neat
>>714377694 To add to that anon Virtamate isn't really VR noob friendly but once your learn the plugin system and UI its the best coombrain simulator out there
>>714376634faster gameplay with more responsive and fluid enemies always feels better then the deliberately gimped combine in alyx
vr games right here
https://www.humblebundle.com/games/upload-vr-summer-2025
>>714364836 (OP)it's capable of amazing experiences, but it's obvious it's not going to catch on with gamers, and meta crippled shit by trying to force everyone into their ecosystem.
what people really want is fulldive vr, but that's 40 years away by my estimates.
>>714365159>>714365341>>714377694>>714384857>all recomendations in this thread are shitjesus, no wonder VR is dead
Alyx, Red Matter and Lone echo, Pistol Whip are the only half decent VR games i played
rest is crap like into the radius, metro vr and so on, just games that would be considred 6/10 at best on PC.
Anyway, there isnt anything i would call a must play, nothing that will stay in your mind
>>714395962VR is dead, its not just me hating it, nobody is really impressed by those shitty half assed tech demos people call VR games
>>714396217>nobodyI play every week and this thread is full of people who like VR games. You need to touch grass
>>714394981that's because you're a faggot with a shit headset and PC
>>714394981>rest is crap like into the radiusFinally, I got this turd recommended to me, people calling it "stalker vr", and yeah, sure, it has elements of stalker, but it's a dead, boring world.
I cannot for the life of me, get excited about shooting black silhuettes.
>>714364836 (OP)If you have a friend, you should co-op SURV1V3.
It's a slow paced zombie game that leans more on being tactical and careful regarding the way you go about the infested town.
Morrowind VR is neat and easy on the hardware.
>>714376425Enticing all the devs over to the Quest platform has pretty much shackled VR games development to its shitty hardware. Also most game are designed around you not having a PC.
>>714385231VaM seems like the final frontier of cooming. I feel like if I tried it there'd be no going back.
>>714397478i hate all those unfinished and "make your own fun" games
like fucking h3, swords and sorcery, hellsplit arena and so on, all of those crappy games are exactly the same
i expected vr would be full of games like hl2, like vertigo 2(only good since this was made by 1 guy), but nope, no fps games at all
even hl alyx is more of a walking sim than a shooter
>>714398820Not really. I tried the superdepth 3d reshade and mapped my headset movement to emulated opentrack which the game supports but it's horrible to play and made me sick even though I can rocket jump just fine in quake 3 vr.
The devs would rather support linux head tracking modules than give us a basic bitch VR rendering camera. They hate VR with a passion the filthy german boomer cunts.
>>714400306But X rebirth had a native VR support and it's the same engine...
>>714396217>filtered HARDkek
me and many other anons use our headsets every week if not daily. it aint the hmd fault you are so shit and incompetent
>>714400415They burned out on making that game during the VR craze of 2016-17 and sold no copies and now they're butthurt forever.
>>714400306they dont hate it. they just got burned hard by making poor mans x rebirth VR version. Instead of just integrated basic ass 3d with adjustment so the UI is readable in game
there is also the thing how X4 is very cpu heavy and they are scared of over tacking the GPU also which vr 3d does. But they sound more like excuses
>>714400589Damn, that's sad. It's one of those games where perceiving true scale of the objects would greatly improve immersion.
>>714400856When I ran the game with superdepth3d I set the game render to a custom resolution of 5K (2500x2500 per eye) and I had very much playable framerate on my 12700k + 4080.
I would say around 100-110ish in empty space and 70fps near a space station.
What boggles my mind is that people are willing to play MSFS in comparison at 45fps or even less with dogshit blur settings so the performance argument doesn't hold too much of a candle.
X4 is the only space sim that doesn't suck dick and it's criminal that we do not have basic vr rendering. Like no one is asking for damn vr controller interaction or manual reloads and other dumb shit when all the power users are on flight sticks + kbm.
>>714364836 (OP)I constantly have a half chub when I play Blade and Sorcery because overpowering and killing the female NPCs kinda makes me a bit horny.
>>714391807people are very happy with basic ass 3d vr with seated play. the goggle are just too fucking good and straight up upgrade to any monitor of any size. which feels like staring into the game world through a tiny little window.
anytime some developer stumbles upon this simple truth, like frontier with elite dangerous or subnautica, you mostly hear praise from the plug and play gamer. who somehow got a headset but cant be assed to tinker around with shit like vorpx profiles or reshade to force flatties into 3d
>>714401553>Like no one is asking for damn vr controller interaction or manual reloadsthat is the thing. nobody is asking for it as a must have condition but all developers seem to be under the impression that you must have motion control or it aint a proper VR version
Like in space sim category elite dangerous showed how well basic controller but full 3d works in spehs
>>714364836 (OP)Must have games don't exist.
>>714364836 (OP)It's only really useful for 3 things:
>being a degenerate in vrchat>racing and flight sims>2D light gun gamesEverything else is just a gimmick.
>>714394981>into the radiusThat one was really fun imo until it felt like all my deaths were cheap.
Boneworks is my favorite VR game so far. I know it's jank, but I liked the simulation aspect of it. Alyx is a better "game", but you have more freedom in boneworks.
>>714364836 (OP)Nope. I hoped gaben would be the one carrying the torch forward, but he hasn't, so eh..
>>714365029Yeh, it's probably great for stuff like eurotruck simulator2, or whatever, i dunno..
>>714402687Don't forget loli sex sims. It's the very first thing any VR user should install
>>714377694>>Virt-a-MateUnironically would be perfect if it didn't run like SHIT and creators were more sensible about dependencies
>>714371764If deckard ever releases, gaben better push the industry forward and make five-digit gloves the norm. It's crazy how all the companies still fuck around with those stupid fucking controllers of theirs, it's so 2014.. even now, when brand new vr headsets are released, they still have the frigging balls to also release new controllers for it, instead of doing the logical thing and making those damn vr gloves we are all so obviously waiting for.a literal kid made them a couple of years ago, i saw a youtube video of him proving that it worked. Granted, it was quite large and bulky, but still.. if he could achieve that with homebrew off-the-shelf materials, how is it possible that a billion dollar corporation can't do this???
>>714405368I wish there was a way to just play sfm/blender porn in VR.
>>714377819One can always pray and hope, i suppose..
>>714384438Come on, bro, honestly................................ don't you fucking tell me you literally kiss her too in real life for "added realism", or whatever.........
>>714397312As real as my old gamgam who died in 2020.
>>714402834All i remember, regarding boneworks, is how they somehow fucked up the sequel. How could they fuck that up, when the first one was supposedly so good??
>>714364836 (OP)Polyphony dunked on everyone so hard with GT7 they all gave up.
>>714405368yeah virtamate runs like ASS unless you got top tier GPUs like a 4080/4090/5090...
load more than 2 characters? thats it, it becomes 40-50fps jank... geezus fuck.
That creator is a fucking SCUMBAG and didnt update the game or release VAM 2 in like 8 YEARS NOW.
>>714384438>Koikatsu VR>in free roam/ story modehuh?? last time i tried playing VR in the free roam stuff back in 2018 it ran like complete ass... maybe the VR mod was properly updated? VR is just meant to work properly in the confined/limited VR launcher thing
