He jobbed to Obi-wan which is the greatest jedi prodigy in their modern history. That's not real jobbing. In the Obi-wan game(which is canon btw) he dueled the entire jedi council all at once alone as his final exercise and won before he went on his Phantom Menace adventure with his master.

Grievous is even more awesome in the comics based off the 2003 show. He straight up destroys both Ventress and Durge in a 2 v. 1 as part of a test by Dooku IIRC and they really go out of their way to show off that he is a strategic/tactical genius that makes Thrawn look like a pussy faggot.

Lucas goes against the juvenile capeshit power level shittery grain most jewish media is based off and that's what made him a memorable character in the movie.

Lucas hated him and wanted him to be another characterless villain who could only dole out a few stock catchphrases before biting it. That's why Grievous's entire backstory was excised in "Canon".

George was mostly hands off with the Tartakovsky Clone Wars cartoon. All Tartakovsky had to work with when making the cartoon was some concept art of Grievous, and was allowed to do whatever he wanted.

George imagined Grievous as a cowardly Dick Dastardly type who talks a big game but isn't that competent in a straight fight and runs at the first sign of trouble. Tartakovsky imagined a badass Jedi Killer. Tartakovsky's version came first in release order so people think that's the "original" version of the character even though George is the actual creator. I do not like the prequels, but Grievous' characterization not aligning with the promotional cartoon isn't an actual flaw with Revenge of the Sith
