The entire point of the Xbox existing was to eventually pivot it to being an all in one entertainment center system, when that plan totally failed Xbox had minimal reason to exist in the eyes of Microsoft corporate. They got one more shot to make the GamePass thing work but clearly it isn't.

The point was to install Microsoft as middlemen in the industry with everyone forking over cash to work with their APIs and infrastructure, something that would eventually be accomplished by locking people out of graphical acceleration without a DirectX box.
This didn't pan out obviously.

DEI hires + jeet outsourcing + "Hands off" approach letting these people leech 7-10 fucking years of salary to produce literally nothing.
