>>714405407We gotta fast track the legislation before we lose this one forever.
damn, can't wait for the "Anthem was actually kino" threads..
The servers were still up? I actually played and enjoyed Anthem at launch, and I had no idea it was still around. Testament to how dogshit it was when a shill like me didn't even want to play it anymore and had no idea it even existed. The game had massive issues, but as a once and done campaign game for $15, it was good fun. Loved Colossus and the co-op ability synergies.
>>714405341 (OP)I thought they EoS'd this years ago.
>>714405341 (OP)No! Not Anthem! Nooooo!

>Anthem moved on?
>>714405341 (OP)thought it was already dead
>>714405341 (OP)Literally no reason to not being able to play this offline. Good, it will bring more attention to Stop Killing Games
>>714405840It's not even attempting to save already existing games. Too much to chew. It aims to give devs plenty of time to make End Of Life plans before the game goes into full production.
>>714405341 (OP)That sucks, I unironically loved the game and put over 100 hours into it a while ago. Keep coming back to it every now and then. People who say it's one of the worst games ever made never actually played it. The gameplay is so fucking fun, no other mechsuit game even comes close to it.
>>714405341 (OP)i thought it was already kill
>>714405341 (OP)The fuck I thought it shut down last year.
>>714405926>>714405341 (OP)I remember hearing about this game.
I played Marvel Avengers after it went down and it was alright. God some mileage out of the photo mode.
I'm a sucker for average, mediocre games though so I hope they make Anthem playable offline.
I didn't even know he was sick
>>714405341 (OP)>anthem was still live
>>714405341 (OP)Man, the push for live service games is fucking heinous. I dont even care about this, but it seems like it couldve been a much better one and done game rather than a GAS game.

Damn, they did just kill a video game?
>>714405407It's okay to kill this one though
>>714407463That's much more than I thought, what the fuck.
>sold 5 million copies
>will now all be disabled thanks to Stop Killing Games legislation not passing quick enough.
All they had to do is
>fix performance issues
>fix loot
and the game would've been a hit. Instead the devs dropped it halfway through the first content drop cycle because of a couple negative reviews. SAD
I donโt care about Anthem so I donโt care if Stop Killing Games fails to save it.
>>714405341 (OP)>anthem lived longer than concord
>>714405341 (OP)Wait, it was still up? I thought it got shut down years ago.
>>714405691Action 52 is
>shit>still playableDestiny 2's original campaign, which was total shit, is not completely inaccessible to anyone, even Bungie, so now no one can cover it. There will never be a grand 'Destiny, what went wrong?' retrospective without using recycled footage because no one can play it anymore. That game is literally not dead and yet vast swathes of its content are unplayable now. How the fuck is someone supposed to do this with a game like Anthem or Concord? We talk about ET and the video game crash today, but Concord was rhe single greatest media failure ever; not video games failure, media failure. No one has ever lost more money on a piece of fiction ever than Sony did on Concord, and no one in 10 years with 10 years of hindsight, interviews and leaks that we don't have yet and likely won't have for years, will be able to get original footage of it.
A game sucking doesn't mean it shouldn't be playable. A game flat out being propaganda doesn't even mean it shouldn't be playable. This is one of those things that sounds fine at a glance but then a bunch of unexpected consequences no one could have thought of at the time happen. Like, if I were a Democrat living 50 years from now, I would do what the Dems did to McCarthy and the communist panic and rewrite histroy to act like he wasn't right and just argue the woke push of the past 15 years just never happened or was highly exaggerated, since much of the evidence will disappear by then. I mean fuck, leftists literally do this with shit still well within living memory all the time. If chuds go burn every copy of Ghostbusters 2016, then it becomes much easier to argue it never existed and chuds just fabricated a conspiracy theory at the time.
>>714405341 (OP)what? the servers were up?
>make iron man game
>fuck it up and refuse to fix it
This is exactly why SKG is so important, to retain cultural masterpieces like this for future generations
>>714407463It still had a couple thousand players at minimum? That's much better than what I expected.

>>714408217He's right, dumbass. Game preservation doesn't exist just for fun. It's for preserving history too, and this is a big piece of gaming history. Doesn't matter if it's good
>>714409119gaming "history" is irrelevant and has no impact on social behaviour from the past or future. You just want to worship a literal mountain of shit like the hindu brained slave you are.
>>714409281This would sound a lot more convincing if you didn't write it on a gaming forum. Stop wasting time talking about games, they're irrelevant. Get the fuck out

>>714405407(after this one)
>>714405407*John Frakes voice* Not this one. This one can be killed.
>>714405341 (OP)Anthem was still alive?
>>714406152I still have no idea how EA bought so many great studios only to kill them after one failure or middling success, and they let that shart factory continually pump out garbage while leaving its bloated corpse to fester.
>>714405341 (OP)I actually thought they already shut it down
>>714410505I guess they need to double it shutdown when one time isn't enuff
>>714405341 (OP)Anthem was alive!?
It doesn't matter whether you think anthem was shit or not, it's not okay for studios to just unilaterly shut down a game without any way for buyers to keep playing it privately afterwards
>>714408396It can't save any games in the past to begin with. Apple did not recall all iPhones to replace the ports with usb-c.
>>714405341 (OP)Anthem transitioned to Requiem
>>714409560people who play games know especially well how irrelevant their history is. It's not like war were you learn things to fail to not repeat them. knowing The Crew or Anthem existed will not change your life in the year 2563.

>>714405691Because it's "apparently" a very difficult task for the devs to not kill games, this means devs who make shit games will suffer more on top of releasing a huge flop. That means good, get fucked.
>>714407463>29th of all MMOsGrim.

>>714405341 (OP)I haven't touched this game since before the pandemic but I want to get the most out of it now that it's going to die.
Is it worth the platinum?
I thought they shut that shit down in like 2020.
if they handed the game off to the players, we could have had overhaul mods that fixed it.
Some games deserve to die.
>>714405341 (OP)>left it on farming idiots who were still spending>SKG picking up momentum>oh shit lets shut it down
Anthem does feel like a game the publisher could make an offline mode for.
There is a significant amount of singleplayer content in that game.
>>714405341 (OP)NNNOOOOOOOOOO I WAS PLANNING ON PLAYING IT THAT DAY
>>714414682Yea this is actually something that the whole 'stop killing games' thing could work on. I can't imagine it would be really difficult to make an offline of this compared, to, an MMO or something.
>>714405341 (OP)EA saw SKG and said: try and stop me
>>714405407I don't want to have shit games saved, I want them to be preserved forever so that publishers can't sweep their hilarious flops under the rug, I want Sony to have to support Concord for the rest of their miserable existence, for some retard CEO a hundred years from now to see the 0.0000001% of money going towards server costs keeping that piece of shit alive and knowing he can't do a damn thing about it so he sheds a tear and curses Hermen Hulst every night for being such a massive fucking faggot
>>714407463are these numbers even legit
>>714415346This.
Allowing them to bury mistakes like Concord and Anthem is worse than them being alive. Even if all they do is throw a single player patch on top of it, that alone is humiliating enough to be worth doing.
>>714407681>the devs dropped it halfway throughthe devs were working on a pirate expansion set in the sky, where clouds were like water waves
then EA pulled the plug in 2020

>>714405341 (OP)modders could have made it better if it had offline mode.
You know, if you stop and think about it, the idea of a video game shutting down and you can never play it again is pretty fucked up. Games are works of art.
We should support Stop Killing Games. Go sign it right now.
When will they finally kill Bioware?
>>714418734Bioware is already dead, what you meant to ask was

>>714418734they get more out of parading the zombified corpse and the IPs associated with it around, it's basically gold for corpos in the sequel/remake/remaster era
you want to buy it before it closes, be part of the class action lawsuit, and still be in the steam return window

I won't forgive them for making a villain this fucking kino and then commiting the cardinal sin of never letting us fight against him even though they hyped up that battle for 2/3 the campaign. He dies and is reborn as a standard reskinned mob monster you've already fought a dozen times up until this point in the story. Fuck them bastards, right in the ear holes.
>>714405341 (OP)Rossisters, how do we cope?
>>714415346SKG isn't about forcing companies to keep servers up forever, it's about forcing them to release tools like dedicated servers that allow people to play them even after official servers are killed
>>714423304wow, so it's a nothingburger after all. Would't stop a developer from killing a game without any official servers and with p2p online. See LOTR: Battle for Middle-Earth series and other Lotr games.

>>714405407Here's an unpopular opinion: Maldavius right about SKG, and it will make the gaming industry worse. Because we know the axiom: the more regulated the market, the worse it is for everyoneโboth producers and consumers. The direct path to improving product quality is REDUCING market regulations, even to the point of their absence.
This is exactly why American goods are far superior in quality to European ones. This is why American service is far better than European service. Because the market in the US is freer. And the freer the market, the better it is for everyone.
SKG, on the other hand, proposes additional regulations that will burden producers but ultimately lead to all costs being passed on to consumers.
Those who oppose absolute market freedom are shooting themselves in the foot.

the gaming industry is already turbo shit. you can't make it worse. you're a retard
Have you ever eaten euro food? Believe it or not it's not pumped full of corn syrup and has actual meat in it. Your food is absolute garbage, your product are made to fail and laden with ads. Shut the fuck up.

>>714427786They killed the studio that made Anthem

>>714431478> So you think a dev selling a multiplayer game for 60 bucks only to shut off servers permanently after hitting the initial player bump is a-ok?Yes, it's OK. You can just... NOT BUY THOSE GAMES. Some games may burn brightly but briefly. Others will stay with you forever. That's the beauty of a free marketโyou can choose what YOU LIKE. You're not obligated to buy every game or agree to every condition. It's your money, and only you decide how to spend it.
> the gaming industry is already turbo shit. you can't make it worse. At the very least, they might start factoring the costs of preserving a game after its shutdown into the product's price, which would immediately drive up prices.
It could also reduce the number of attempts to create a new hype-driven game like Fortnite, meaning fewer live-service games. Let me remind you that, although 95% of live-service games fail, the remaining 5% transform the industry for the better.
> Have you ever eaten euro food?> Believe it or not it's not pumped full of corn syrup and has actual meat in it. Your food is absolute garbage, your product are made to fail and laden with ads.Easy, friend. If you're okay with it, that's your right. I'm not judging you. I'm just stating the fact that all the most popular food brands are American. Everyone knows American cuisine, but from European cuisine, people only know pizza. And even then, only because Americans took the concept and made it better than the Italians did.
