The servers were still up? I actually played and enjoyed Anthem at launch, and I had no idea it was still around. Testament to how dogshit it was when a shill like me didn't even want to play it anymore and had no idea it even existed. The game had massive issues, but as a once and done campaign game for $15, it was good fun. Loved Colossus and the co-op ability synergies.

Destiny 2's original campaign, which was total shit, is not completely inaccessible to anyone, even Bungie, so now no one can cover it. There will never be a grand 'Destiny, what went wrong?' retrospective without using recycled footage because no one can play it anymore. That game is literally not dead and yet vast swathes of its content are unplayable now. How the fuck is someone supposed to do this with a game like Anthem or Concord? We talk about ET and the video game crash today, but Concord was rhe single greatest media failure ever; not video games failure, media failure. No one has ever lost more money on a piece of fiction ever than Sony did on Concord, and no one in 10 years with 10 years of hindsight, interviews and leaks that we don't have yet and likely won't have for years, will be able to get original footage of it.

A game sucking doesn't mean it shouldn't be playable. A game flat out being propaganda doesn't even mean it shouldn't be playable. This is one of those things that sounds fine at a glance but then a bunch of unexpected consequences no one could have thought of at the time happen. Like, if I were a Democrat living 50 years from now, I would do what the Dems did to McCarthy and the communist panic and rewrite histroy to act like he wasn't right and just argue the woke push of the past 15 years just never happened or was highly exaggerated, since much of the evidence will disappear by then. i enjoyed the moment to moment gameplay - flying and fighting in the javelins felt great. everything else about it was complete ass though. the characters and story were not memorable, the main hub as annoying to traverse, the different activities all felt exactly the same, it was too hard to get gear then it was way too easy. i played it and tried to love it but it was just too messy. i want bioware to take the flight and combat system and make a tight single player game with it

That was a thing they promised. From what I remembered, there was just a meeting about whether they should go on board with supporting the game still.

I had a pc that was considered a lightweight at the time, but it still looked pretty good to me. I definitely think there's a lot of potential left on the table with the engine, the controls and the (loose) world build.
