And it infinitely more fun than 99% of AAA garbage. When will devs realize that spending hundreds of millions on bloat isn't admirable?
I have over 1000 hours in EDF 5.
EDF5 was very fun, but it was EDF6 that made me experience the true feeling of kino
>>714422820I got burned out on 6. It felt way too repetitive, which is a dumb complaint about a timeloop game. It didn't help that WB2 came out so close to it, either.
>>714422820Now take the next step for the real podium with EDF4.1.
>>714423132Sorry that happened to you bro. Did you at least finish the campaign once? A kino story is the last thing I was expecting from EDF but damn me if it didn't deliver
>>714423243I'm curious about it but don't know if I can go back. EDF6 introduced some nice qol stuff like the extra slots and better sprint and I'd miss it for sure. But hey if you say the mission design is good I might give it a go.
>>714423664>he didn't play 67,8, and 9 already happened.
>>714423557I got up to the 80% trophy. Also, fuck the DLCs. They are just unfun.
>>714421584 (OP) >no collectibles
The weapons are literally the collectables.
>>714423816>7,8, and 9 already happened.But I did anon.
And it was kino.
I'll admit EDF 6 started slower but the ending is way better than 5
>EDF thread
Based. Best thread currently on blue /b/
>>714421584 (OP)5 is better than 6.
>Helldivers but without Always-Online
Masterpiece.
>>714424232I hate when people make this comparison. EDF was around way before Helldivers.
>>714421584 (OP)Man I wish 6 was as good. Even the new weapons don't make up for the gay new enemies and lame levels
>>714423978I was more referring to the stupid "useless static knick-knacks hidden around the map" type of collectible commonly seen in open world games like korok seeds or stones of barenziah
>>714421584 (OP)>>no collectibles>>no weapon customization>>no levels/expI mean that's just lying, collecting weapon and armour crates and going through the weapon upgrade gatcha system is pretty integral to the game progression.
Also holy shit it's very hard to recommend edf5 (or edf in general) to people when d3 consistently refuse to drop the price below AAA release launch price despite the B-movie production values.
>>714424881I could argue that armor crates are basically exp and weapon crates are collectibles but i have no idea what weapon customization you're talking about
>>714424881It goes on sale all the time.
>>714425113I don't give a shit, a PC port of a PS4 game from nearly a decade ago has no place being sold at sixty dollarydoos base price and if you think it does then you are part of the problem.
>>714422820And then you had to do it 3 more times.
>4.1 levels are better than 5
>more variety
>better cave missions
>but soldier and fencer are way better in 5
just update 4.1 on ps4 so I can get 5's gameplay in it PLEASE
also how's 6?
>>714426012Have you considered removing the stick from your ass?
>>7144269356 more or less keeps things from 5 the same but with some new toys and weapon balance.
The new enemies are the real shining addition to 6.
Is EDF6 worth buying now? Are online desyncs still common?
>>714426012Actually you're not mad enough, it's the same engine used from EDF2025(PS3, 2013) so really its using an engine and assets from 12 years ago

What's the best EDF to start with? 4.1, 5?? I don't want to play 6 because it forces u to have a gay epic account linked for online but the other 2 don't ask for anything like that and are dirt cheap right now, any advice on whats the "best" one to start with without taking into account 6
So the next game will be called EDF X, correct?
>>714429215>u to have a gay epic account linked for onlineNo, you don't retard. Start with 4.1 anyways.

>>7144292154.1 or 5. 5 is a reboot, so you don't have to play 4.1 to understand it, but 6 is a direct sequel to 5 and benefits greatly from having it fresh in your mind. I suggest you play 5 followed by 6, then give yourself a break to avoid burnout (the games are very samey), then go back to 4.1.
>>714421584 (OP)EDF5 is in my top 30 games. EDF6 was a half-expansion with a full price tag, the story is bad, and the missions are worse. All 6 had was QoL and rebalancing.

Any tips on farming armor in edf5 without dlc? I farmed inferno weapons from the late pill bug mission and the golden ant queens are still stone walling me on Hardest.
>>714423132Odd, as 5 is more repetitive. 6 has more varied missions despite being longer, surprisingly enough.
>>714421584 (OP)Ironically, this could be applied to EDF 5 too, as it has far too many repeated or boring missions. Cutting the mission count by 20-30 would have massively improved the game

>>714421584 (OP)I love EDF too anon but about half of this is bullshit but it's not everyday I see an EDF thread so I'll bite. EDF isn't fun because it has "less"; it's fun because it's a 3D arcadey shmup and one of the few games that keeps co-op and split screen alive in some way today when most games have left these things behind for online VS. It has the same arcadey and cartoonish spirit of old-school shmups like Contra, just killing everything on screen with cool weapons.
I do wish EDF was more popular. It's one of the few reasons I don't hate owning a PS but I've gotten tired of paying for PS Online, which I let expire recently. I hope EDF ports more to Switch going forward, maybe then it will actually become more popular and I can still own it physically.

In fact, the only two good QoL changes to me is removing roll spam from Ranger by introducing sprint and making Fencer's arsenal a bit more useable, I literally never had issues free-handing and landing banging airstrikes on Air Raider, it in-fact tickles my brain more to do it like that.

I really hope that Sandlot tones back on making epic setpieces, or at least learns how to better integrate the exposition into the gameplay. Some of their attempts to innovate in EDF 6 felt like they were copying the superficial design philosophy of stuff like Gears of War-and strayed from what made the older games great. I think that there's a healthy medium between having a solid arcade shooter and a cinematic toy box. I hope the next game doesn't just copy helldivers as their next base.
Also, I think they should return to focusing on having larger softer groups of mixed enemies. The beefier androids are just not as fun or demanding to play against as the tetrad of spiders, black/red ants, and bees. The very late game and DLC show how the new enemies can really complement each other, but it was disappointing that you mostly fought one or two enemy types at a time in the base game. You really shouldn't have to pay for DLC to get the trademark puzzle-esque EDF missions.

Yeah no. First time experience is stronger compared to EDF 5 but every subsequent playthrough is a worse experience than the last. The DLC missions are core EDF experience, too bad you need to fork out even more money for those.
I've gotten pretty tired of franchises I want to get back into but every time I check in on them, everyone's saying "7/10 it fixed some things, made some things worse, and everyone still plays it with mods". Like after a dozen releases you'd think this shit would be refined into a buttery smooth perfect experience.
>>714421584 (OP)>no levels/expI'd argue weapon/equipment levels qualify.
EDF is pure fun though.
>>714450710The song is downright awful in 5-6, 4.1 had the best song
>>714451746Playing the story sequences multiplayer on release was fun. People using voice commands to respond to the story events in silly ways and such. It's harmful on replays though yeah.
>>714453238yet it is simultaneously kamige
>>714453360>Voice command written "it's bad situation">Voice when played "Shit!"
>>714450862Helldivers can be as popular as it wants, it won't stop it from just feeling like an overly polished early game EDF stage set on repeat.
>>714453972>muh feefeeNo one cares. The active player numbers for both games speak for themselves. A 20-year-old franchise is struggling to retain its dying playerbase while a young challenger can comfortably maintain 50k concurrent players every month. The industry is healing because people has started to wise up and boycott shovelware slops.
>>714454842Helldivers sits on a razors edge where every few months the community has to scream "we WILL stop playing unless you finally fix this" and then right at the last minute before yet another review bomb, they hastily scramble out a patch. Helldivers has almost died like 6 times now.
>>714455069As compared to EDF6's playerbase on its deathbed because D3P and Sandlot still do not give a fuck about the absolute state of the game despite its disastrous launch? You faggots really are some of the most domesticated retards in the industry, only losing to Tendies.
>>714455808And D3 listen to public complaints and address them unlike helldivers devs that's going too much on it's own ass
>still pushing this "EDF vs Helldivers" meme
Just kill yourself
>>714422820It got old after the third reset,
>>714455808I don't play either game anymore, don't assume I'm fanboying because neither of them are massively high quality.
>EDF vs. Helldivers thread ruining is still a thing
I wish I could press a button and kill you.
>>714453360>It's harmful on replays though yeah.I don't know man. The entire lobby making a contest of screaming over the professor is hilarious.
>>714459076Fuck off. I always skip those segments when possible.
>>714458908always made by a faggot that player neither game btw
>>714458908I wish I could unload my 12-gauge on EDFagtrannies' faces.
>>714455987>D3>Listening to public complaints>Doing anything about them
>>714460998All of that is coming out of your mouth. So you know where to aim.
