Ultimate means final. No more smash.

New moves for everybody, not just B moves but entire moveset designed from scratch. Tired of characters being locked in by random decisions from Melee like Ganondorf being a C. Falcon clone.

It'll mean losing a lot of my faves, but they can't just do ultimate again with even more characters, for so many reasons.

I'm assuming a good chunk of the characters I like to play are getting cut and I'm getting next to nobody that'd make me go gaga.

Also I guess for gameplay features, unfuck Classic mode and make it randomized like 64-Brawl, bringing back trophies or at least an encyclopedia for Nintendo games, and a color editor mode would be good.

I do think counter should be removed as a mechanic though, have shield and that fast parry thing, and sure you can keep projectile reflects/absorbs/stores whatever, but straight counters should go

Like, honestly, after ultimate, in terms of roster, anything new would be a step down, but I imagine a "port with more new characters added" is a lot easier to swing legally for all the guest characters than it would be to bring them all back for another new game.

I would have said the latter 6 months ago, but now with Switch 2 having the 'remastered' BotW and such, I think a remaster complete package deal with some improvements is far more likely.

It's 100% a new game and I can't even believe people are debating this in their minds.
Since the 1990s Nintendo has made a brand new smash bros game for every new mainline home console they released since then.

Nintendo 64 had the first smash bros.
GameCube had melee.
Wii had brawl.
Wii u had smash 4.
And Switch had ultimate.

Nintendo always makes a brand new smash game for every console they have ever made since the N64. And Smash Bros. is one of the top five selling games on Nintendo consoles. They are not going to give us a shitty Smash Bros Plus.

I know the argument is that Ultimate had all the characters so now they have to downgrade by having less characters for the first time, but literally only rosterfags care about that, I'd prefer if the new game is improved in other ways lol.

Smash 64 was just an experiment.
Originally it was going to be a Kung Fu fighting game with original characters called Dragon King.
They tasked Sakurai from the Kirby team to lead the development. He thought that nobody would buy the game so he decided to replace all the OC characters with Nintendo characters because he thought that would make people buy it. They replaced the fire falcon fighting character with Captain Falcon and kept all of his kung fu moves in the game.
The game sold a lot better than Nintendo expected so they put more effort into Melee and Melee was one of the best selling and highest reviewed games on the gamecube and that game turned Smash Bros into a big series. Lol.

Majima'd be rad, but against Kiryu or Ichiban, he'd probably be a secondary, if not an Assist Trophy if a Yakuza char were to get in base roster. Though the kino option would to be either make Majima a stage boss or have him be a meter-dependent summon character for Kiryu's Down B, to channel a Majima Everywhere system into the moveset.
