Update from /ourguy/ Ross. We still need WAY more votes.
1) Every retard who entered his name wrong or something similar will be disqualified.
2) The spoofing is most likely real, and right now it's impossible to tell how many votes are fake.
On the bright side, interpol will most likely go after the spoofers to prolapse their asses.
So we can't stop. The 1m was a nice milestone, but the war is far from over.
>>714431618 (OP)This is shitposting. Mods are going to delete it again. I'd advise you to stop spreading misinformation and lies.
I hope they go fucking nuclear on the spoofers.
>>714431718Fuck off, shill.
>europeans can't write their own names
>>714431618 (OP)Saw this argument against the initiative, but I legit do not understand its point:
>Because we know the axiom: the more regulated the market, the worse it is for everyoneโboth producers and consumersI know chances are this is just trolling, but I would like someone to defend this if possible. Is free Market is good for consumers? Like, at all?
I am not well-educated on the matter, if someone wishes to explain how a consumer benefits from companies being able to do whatever they want. And how 'voting with your wallets' is preferable to just voting.
>>714431618 (OP)>On the bright side, interpol will most likely go after the spoofers to prolapse their asses.FERRETFUCKER GOING TO JAIL
>>714431925Is the free market good for consumers?*

>>714432009>most likelyIt's very fucking unlikely they'll bother, but in the case they do it will be extremely funny
>>714431618 (OP)Realistically how many fake votes can a bunch of guys even manage? In just a few short days? That doesn't sound realistic at all.
The only actual problem at hand is retards mistyping their info thus making their vote moot. How much percentage of people can mess up? Probably no more than 10% at the absolute worst which is very unlikely. More like a few percentage realistically. So, there is nothing to worry about.
>>714431925>the more regulated the market, the worse it is for everyoneIf that's the case, why don't you move to Somalia?

Listen anons, this is bigger than you thought. This is not just about video games. Let me tell you a secret: this is an actual op's.
Former Blizzard guy is a plant, an actor. His role was to play the opposition, stear shit up on both sides. Those with good intention will face no harm, those with bad intention will face interpol door knockings.
Just think about this: the interpol narrative was only mention after the 1M milestone, on purpose.

>>714432363>grok is this true>grok what does this mean>grok summarizewhat the fuck is wrong with zoomers?
If we can use the past to predict the future, I'm betting on this initiative being struck down when it gets to the EU. There was a similar case in the UK and they ruled publishers are not legally obligated to ensure a video game stays functional for the people who purchased it even after support ends, because video games are licensed software, you do not legally own the software, you only bought a license to use their software.
Also, ECIs that did turn into laws were additive or preventive, not subtractive as is the case for the Stop Killing Games movement.
>>714432453Sounds too good to ever be true.
>>714432197Genuinely, how realistic is that? The signatures do require a EU ID, how secure are those?
I heard choosing Greece had some way of getting the signatures through even if you had some invalid shit, but there weren't many Greek signatures.
>>714432509its not an issue for me because I don't play live service games
Reminder that democracy is fake and gay, and petitions are even faker and gayer, because they're only the vague assurance of maybe democracy at a later date.
>>714432363I'm not giving your site views Elon.
>>714432109It would be a matter of looking at what nations in the EU that did not require a government ID number and then looking into the data of how many votes those nations accumulated over the past week. In this case, you want to look at Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, and Slovakia as these are the nations that do not ask for your government ID to sign (meaning signings from these nations could be easily botted.)
Any vote from any other nation requires your ID#, meaning that outside of writing your name wrong its much more difficult to spoof these signings within the system.
>>714432585Finland, you mean.
>>714432326>So a few schizos made a bot capable of making 100k+ false submits, in the last few daysYou act like this couldn't happen. It takes one turbo-autist who sucks Thor's cock to script-kiddie edit a vote bot to generate tens of thousands of votes.
You act like you're not on the website that bombed an ISIS training camp, found a flag in the middle of shitfuck nowhere, and turned a Microsoft AI into a redpilled racist nazi in the span of less than 24 hours a piece.

>>714432765Publishers have never once stated video games are products you own, I can see the big button saying "purchase" to be misleading but "purchase" does not mean "buy". Purchase can also apply to purchasing a license.
I appreciate the thought behind the movement but it's simply against software licensing laws that have been settled for over 40 years, it's completely idealistic to think this would pass the EU commission.
At least we showed corpos we can punch back.

This situation sucks.
The best case scenario is that it's just some retards submitting fake signatures to fuck with the results.
Worst case scenario is that someone massively inflated the entire thing by tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of votes, to give people the fake feeling of winning.
>>714433037>Your games will stay licenses>>714433112>owning thingsHoly fucking shit how many times do we have to tell you Ross doesn't want to make vidya a product you own instead of something the publishers licenses out? >Clickwrap licensesYou click โI agreeโ on install, that's clear consent, courts usually uphold this.

Eventually even quake 3 will stop working without significant emulation. Networking standards will change over time, not all old networking standards will last forever.
To make sure games are able to be played forever:
The developer has to provide :
>all connection variables as params.>any client has to provide an up to date OpenAPI document, which contains all interactions the client makes. It must provide the shape for any outgoing and the shape for any incoming interactions.>a deobsfacation key to anything obsfascated for whatever reason>a list of all networking technologies used>a description of what each interaction does, and when it is invoked. This way, games will be preserved for all time.
>>714434456As a developer you can use the following numbers in your code without being laughed at:
0 - Because you might want to reference the first thing in an array, get the raw pointer address, universal code for false
1 - Because this is a universal number code for true, also useful for incrementing pointers
-1 - Because you might want to know if an array lookup failed, or decrementing pointers
There is some wiggle room, when making animations, interacting with audio, shaders, etc. But you should really try to call something,
NEXT_DIALOG_INDEX, rather than, 999
RHODE_TALKS_TO_NIGGERMONSTER, rather than, 33
This guy is throwing around numbers all over the place. Which makes the code really hard to follow. This is in conjunction with: The story should not be written like this, the nigger has to jump between 6 files to make a dialog work. There should be an abstracting layer ontop of it, so you can write the story without directly fucking around with code/yml.

I did similar shit for a game I liked. There wasn't a single mod on the forums that fixed a bug that annoyed me in a game I liked that hampered my playstyle, so I learned as much of the scripting language from the ground up as I needed in order to fix it, even though I don't have a formal background in coding whatsoever. It took me a couple of day to figure out the fix and how to ductape it onto the spaghetti code of the game but it ended up working and it's still in use today by people that probably think I'm way more versed on that topic than I actually I am.
If someone were to ask me to write a guide on how to write custom scripts for the game I'd tell them that I have no interest in that either. I have zero documentation on the shit I wrote as well. It does what it needs to do and that's good enough for me and the other people that still use that fix to this day.

In the words of the Midrash (as expounded by Rashi), the people are adjured not to return collectively to the Land of Israel by the exertion of physical force, nor to โrebel against the nations of the world,โ nor to โhasten the End.โ In short, we are required to wait for the heavenly, complete, miraculous, supernatural, and meta-historical redemption that is totally distinct from the realm of human endeavor. This waiting over two millennia manifests the very essence and singularity of our people, expressing their faith in divine providence, in the assurance of the prophets, and in messianic destiny.

In 1862, Henry Rawlinson identified Ur Kaลdim with Tell el-Muqayyar near Nasiriyah in the Baghdad Eyalet of the Ottoman Empire (now in Iraq).[1] In 1927, Leonard Woolley excavated the site and identified it as a Sumerian archaeological site where the Chaldeans were to settle around the 9th century BC.[2] Recent archaeology work has continued to focus on the location in Nasiriyah, where the ancient Ziggurat of Ur is located.[3][4][5][6][7][8]

"Server codes" in modern online videogame infrastructure is a fuckload of microservices that rely on 3rd party code and services, like AWS. Nobody's gonna give you the fucking source code to those.
>>714441283I think the whole server discussion is a red herring. It's not completely meritless as a discussion, but that's not the issue. What I see as the issue is that people were sold a license to a game in a manner that makes it questionable whether it could be called selling a license. The license was revoked in a manner that was especially questionable. They killed the game for good measure while revoking the license in a manner that was extremely arbitrary from the consumer perspective.

I think all gaming companies/devs should follow what John Carmack did with his games by releasing the source code and sdk for most of early ID software games. It should have been a gold standard on dealing with EoL/S games. You can still buy the game and own it, while also having the ability to mod and setup community servers. Why would anyone defend corporations or greedy devs at all in this discussion? It's not like these corporations or greedy devsare going to compensate for your loyalty to them.
>>714442745MMOs will probably be one of the least-affected genres. They're already subscription based, the devs will just have to start saying "you are only paying for your subscription period, not for any time before or after."
Plus when MMOs die the publishers often look the other way or even officially endorse non-profit attempts at reverse engineering them.
>>714442883Yet you pay for license only scams, and cry when the servers get shut down.
