Yep. Bayonetta 3 runs rick solid 60fps. Pretty much every game loads extremely fast. TotK and BotW Sw2 Edition look and run fucking fantastic. Prime Remastered feels a little smoother, new joy cons are more precise and responsive. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet actually works now.

I don't know really, I guess people are buying it because they trust Nintendo's track record with the Switch and they assume it will get some actual games (despite not having any right now), much like the OG Switch did. It's either that or people are buying it for the perf boost on their existing Switch library.

Also there aren't really any alternatives. PS and Xbox are completely worthless in general and not portable. PC is the best platform but the PC portables are more "technical" and involved devices and the average normalfag buying consoles is probably not up to snuff on using one of those. Those are more like "power user" devices, likely bought for people who are already well-familiar with PCs and PC gaming.

I have both, they're both really good but it depends on the user. Just get a Switch if you're a Nintendo person, get a Steam Deck if you're not. I would never recommend that someone just gets a Switch 2 if they don't like Nintendo games, any of the handheld PCs would be better at that point. My Switch 2 is only for Nintendo exclusives, and homebrew, when that's possible.

It really doesn't, the games look exactly the same if you're not using FSR or DLSS. The Switch 2 only ends up looking better in some games because of DLSS, if the game supports it, and that's already a fucking mess now according developers. Actually, the Switch 2 GPU is ~15% slower in synthetic benchmarks than the launch 2022 Steam Deck.

As much as /v/ wants to believe otherwise, the vast majority of the game playing public doesn't care about frame rates, resolution, or any of that stuff. They only care if a game is fun.

I think a lot of the haters don't realize the switch 2 functions as a sort of switch pro. Some key games have gotten massive upgrades. Pokemon Scarlet is the most extreme, that one is running like 8x better than the switch version, but most of them are like 4-5x. The switch 2 also has around a 7 hour battery life with switch 1 games. And even the games that didn't get visual upgrades have much faster loading times at least.

It's insane how much better Odyssey looks on the switch 2. If you have a decent sized TV you cant even see the textures on switch 1, it just looks like someone filled everything in with the paint tool in MSpaint. I'll never be able to play that on a switch 1 again after playing it on switch 2.

I just took my switch 2 to a friends house. the thing is a one device lan party. all i needed was to take my old switch joycons and there were enough controllers for everyone. No other device can do that. If I used a steamdeck I would have to take a whole bunch of full size controllers, and spend an hour trying to get it set up, and then the emulator would probably crash halfway through.

Joycons are so ass no one ever wants to use them and most of the time my friends have their own controllers. Having a hacked switch that lets me use any controller (xbox/ps/wii u/etc) is way more convenient. I don't have a steam deck but I assume steaminput compatibility is as easy to set up as on PC. F-Zero GX is one of the best games ever made. And if you want to talk futuristic racers, it's the best by a country mile and it's not even close. It emulates very well, even has a widescreen mode. You need to play it and you need to play it's Story Mode. One of the more challenging ones of any games I've played. You have no idea what you're talking about. Shader compilation affects every game and system and causes longer load times and can even cause stutter in games. Because the deck hardware is all the same, valve is able to let users download precompiled shaders in the background to avoid all that. So yes, it's consumer friendly. And if you don't like it for whatever reasons, there's options stop or purge downloaded shaders.
