Remember folks,
If buying isn’t owning, then pirating isn’t stealing.
Sail them seas.

Can you pirate anthem as is it even worth pirating?
Anonymous No.714438927 [Report]
was anyone even playing it? no? then why do you care?
Anonymous No.714438948 [Report]
I'm sure the ten people still playing Anthem are devastated.
Anonymous No.714438983 [Report]
anthem was always generic fpslop, came out around the same time is valorant which likewise has no reason to exist, anyone who bought this was an insect brain to begin with

Huh, this is astounding news.
I had no idea they were STILL supporting Anthem.
I honestly thought they'd pulled the plug on this vegetable years ago.

I expect all other scummy videogame publishers to speed up the death of as many of their games as they can.

Kek, this "game" was doa.

No. The game was on life support before it even officially launched. It's surprising it even stayed up this long.

after a point it basically becomes sunk cost of keeping the servers up to try to make some money off of it. i'm sure the game had its whales.
Anonymous No.714439576 [Report] >>714440148
But nobody cared about Anthem. Contrarians are going to act like they cared for his game after years of trashing it.

I doubt it has more than a couple hundred concurrent players across all platforms on any given day. Its a special case where a major overhaul was announced, got detailed quite extensively, then was rug pulled very suddenly when it became clear it was going to need more resources to actually accomplish. Whatever community of ride or die players they still had left at that point.

>>714439576
It does not matter if we cared or not. If EA don't want to support the game they should give anyone who bought the game the ability to play it and host their on server/multiplayer.

DDoS them and steal all the server files. If buying isn't buying, stealing isn't stealing.

I can't decide which one makes me more incredulous, the fact that Anthem servers were still up or that it only came out in 2019
It feels like that fiasco was so much longer ago

If you steal a book from the library, the book is no longer at the library. If you pirate a game, you're not removing it from EAs server.

If you take an audiobook CD from the library, rip it to your PC, then return it to the library, is that theft?

So what license is it? License to play the game? Then when they shutdown the game, they should refund or reimburse the license buyers, because now they cannot play the game anymore.
If they want to revoke the playing right of license owners, they should DECLARE it to be "License for playing this game for 5 years" for example, not doing that will be punished with selling false product

Honest to god, I thought they had shut down the servers years ago. I remember there was the whole debate over whether to re-design the game, or keep it as is, with them settling on leaving it as is. I could have sworn they shut down servers shortly after that.

I guess good on them for keeping it up as long as they did?

If you asked the author of the book they would probably say yes.

it wasn't a $300 million+ budget albatross like modern GAAS garbage so EA probably just didn't care enough to actually pull the plug until now

I do remember a lot of talk about it potentially being pulled out of stores and put back into the dev cycle shithole tho. Just never ended up happening
