I'm sure the ten people still playing Anthem are devastated.

>>714438343 (OP) Huh, this is astounding news. I had no idea they were STILL supporting Anthem. I honestly thought they'd pulled the plug on this vegetable years ago.
>>714438343 (OP) >EA making sure to kill as many of their games before any laws come into effect from the Stop Killing Games initiative I expect all other scummy videogame publishers to speed up the death of as many of their games as they can.
>>714438841 No. The game was on life support before it even officially launched. It's surprising it even stayed up this long.

>>714438997 after a point it basically becomes sunk cost of keeping the servers up to try to make some money off of it. i'm sure the game had its whales.
>>714439470 I doubt it has more than a couple hundred concurrent players across all platforms on any given day. Its a special case where a major overhaul was announced, got detailed quite extensively, then was rug pulled very suddenly when it became clear it was going to need more resources to actually accomplish. Whatever community of ride or die players they still had left at that point.

>>714439576 It does not matter if we cared or not. If EA don't want to support the game they should give anyone who bought the game the ability to play it and host their on server/multiplayer.
I can't decide which one makes me more incredulous, the fact that Anthem servers were still up or that it only came out in 2019 It feels like that fiasco was so much longer ago
>>714438343 (OP) >pay for a live service game that will eventually shut down >game shuts down >WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
If you paid for this, you get what you deserve.

>>714438823 So what license is it? License to play the game? Then when they shutdown the game, they should refund or reimburse the license buyers, because now they cannot play the game anymore. If they want to revoke the playing right of license owners, they should DECLARE it to be "License for playing this game for 5 years" for example, not doing that will be punished with selling false product

>>714438343 (OP) Honest to god, I thought they had shut down the servers years ago. I remember there was the whole debate over whether to re-design the game, or keep it as is, with them settling on leaving it as is. I could have sworn they shut down servers shortly after that.
I guess good on them for keeping it up as long as they did?

>>714444231 it wasn't a $300 million+ budget albatross like modern GAAS garbage so EA probably just didn't care enough to actually pull the plug until now
I do remember a lot of talk about it potentially being pulled out of stores and put back into the dev cycle shithole tho. Just never ended up happening
