Why is collecting video games considered inherently more lowbrow than collecting movies?

Is it? Games are infinitely more replayable per the size they take up. They also are more valuable. Hardly any physical tv/movie media is worth money. CIB games, especially sealed NES/SNES, are worth $$$, so it makes sense to hold on to them or collect them.

Musha CIB is awesome. Still my favorite Genesis game, and I'm an SNES man.

I'd say that's impressive. You clearly love video games, and enjoy authenticity. You have a great collection from the golden age of gaming until present. Just because you don't have a bunch of rare heavy hitters doesn't mean shit, anon. You have great taste and get what you can. I respect that.

I put together multiple Raspberry Pi's where the shells are shaped like various consoles. Even though you can easily put like every early period game in existence onto just one of them, I like to have dedicated libraries on each.

I think cardboard is much more fragile and I would have to be very careful not to tear or dent it. Not just for sake of value and coolness but those little flaps are always the first to rip and make it even more annoying to open/close. I personally don't like the stress of maintaining them. I think it's cool that you have them all. Mine were all discarded during childhood so I don't have to really think about it.

I guess compactness would be another issue but yours fit really well on your shelf and are nice aesthetically. Can't say the same about modern console cases. I actually trash my Switch game boxes and put the cartridges in a folder. The boxes are all mostly empty and covered in warning labels and shit. Not like these old soulful full art boxes.

They are cool because they have a uniform design choice, but also allow for creativity in the game logo. Complete opposite of the Switch. Also, because they are made out of cardboard before the collecting/value craze started in the early 2000s, they are rare, and especially in sealed or excellent conditions. It makes a collection like OPs very impressive, and $$$.

There is nothing cool whatsoever about hoarding games that you bought for outrageous prices in plastic cases that you never intend to open. It's anti-gaming behavior if anything.

AAAAAAAAAAAAA

I know this shouldn't bother me. It's not like the box is in perfect condition anyway. I honestly wouldn't care if I bought a box that already came that way. But whenever I damage something further, I can't help but keep beating myself over it. I acknowledge I'm weird for having this concern.

Turok 2 was one of those games that felt next gen. You could easily get past the shit framrate, but the but graphics, resolution, animation, enemy AI were on another level back then. If you grew up on Doom you know what I mean.
