Yea I never understood how there are people that seriously support the conservative party, even Ontario's progressive conservatives that are unaffiliated with the federal conservatives.
Liberal leaders are corrupt, sure, but it's usually in a fairly subdued fashion, meanwhile the conservatives are cartoonishly corrupt, slinging accusations at the opposition while turning around and doing the same thing but worse.
Like if you were a rich "I got mine" NIMBY anti-carbon tax boomer renting out a dozen properties, then sure, I understand why you would selfishly vote conservative, you'd almost be obligated to do it out of self-preservation. But as someone who is considered on the high end of middle class, with most people not as well off as my family, every time I see someone poorer than me supporting conservative I can't help but feel sympathy for them, because I know that they're basically supporting my family and the even wealthier ones while condemning their own to worse fates.
It was NDP that secured the dental plan. And while the liberals only sort of dangled the carrot of benefits to the poor, the conservatives don't even try and actively try to pass anti-poor measures like healthcare privatization which, if succeeds, will actively cannibalize universal healthcare.
