>>714453802Yea I never understood how there are people that seriously support the conservative party, even Ontario's progressive conservatives that are unaffiliated with the federal conservatives.
Liberal leaders are corrupt, sure, but it's usually in a fairly subdued fashion, meanwhile the conservatives are cartoonishly corrupt, slinging accusations at the opposition while turning around and doing the same thing but worse.
Like if you were a rich "I got mine" NIMBY anti-carbon tax boomer renting out a dozen properties, then sure, I understand why you would selfishly vote conservative, you'd almost be obligated to do it out of self-preservation. But as someone who is considered on the high end of middle class, with most people not as well off as my family, every time I see someone poorer than me supporting conservative I can't help but feel sympathy for them, because I know that they're basically supporting my family and the even wealthier ones while condemning their own to worse fates.
It was NDP that secured the dental plan. And while the liberals only sort of dangled the carrot of benefits to the poor, the conservatives don't even try and actively try to pass anti-poor measures like healthcare privatization which, if succeeds, will actively cannibalize universal healthcare.

Trudeau had to come out and admit that the immigration policy that they and their supporters ardently defended was a failure.
Tech hardware prices have gone insane.
Games themselves are actually not that expensive, except for the digital sales tax that was added a few years ago.
I took a look at my 900+ game wishlist, and like 85% of them are under $20 CAD, and I only add quality games there, no VN crap, no gacha crap, no japanese games in general.
I 100% blame Canada's government for (still) refusing to divest from USA (as we saw with the recent digital tax capitulation) and foster closer ties with China. I didn't vote Liberal (nor Conservative) last election because I (rightfully as it now appears) guessed that Carney would be a subversive pan-western, US-pandering globalist that would rather Canadians suffer for his misguided principles over mutually beneficial trade.
Being a central banker is a massive red flag to begin with, meaning he may have loyalties towards the parasitic and predatory tenets of international finance over Canada's domestic economy. Then in the election debate he said China was the most dangerous threat to Canada which was fucking hilarious. China, who has already dwarfed Canada several hundred times over in technological development and so have nothing to steal from Canada, and who is one of Canada's biggest natural resource clients is the biggest threat? Over Russia that borders Canada's arctic, over the USA that has expressed interest in annexing territory and have tons of double-agents like Jordan Peterson, Danielle Smith, Kevin O'Leary, and half the conservative party fomenting discord? Really, China? But of course a central banker would say that.
Imagine we actually had sane trade deals with China. We'd only be squeezed from one end for PC hardware, instead of both ends. Like why are we paying a premium for electronics shipped from the US? Most delivery addresses in Ontario are literally closer to the states than southern US. Why does western digital, nvidia, asus, etc cost extra for us? Especially the Taiwanese brands that are manufactured in Taiwan/China

>>714456481"I am not certain that oil and gas qualify to define a culture." -Yves-Franรงois Blanchet
>>714455758 You nailed it. The lib-con dichotomy in this country is a race between a clown car and a flaming dumpster. Conservatives get votes not because they're competent or visionary, but because people are tired of being gaslit by the Liberals pretending the nation isn't on fire. It's not "support" so much as "holy fuck at least it's not that guy again." The sad part is how effective the Liberals have been at branding any dissent as far-right extremism, the moment you question their immigration targets or housing debacle it's suddenly 1939 all over again. The damage is structural now, and there's no party with both the backbone and public trust to actually reverse it.
>>714456268Everyone with a brain has been sounding the alarms about USA for decades. The constant brain-drain is why Canada has no industry. That's why we're clinging so hard to our milk, bombardier, CBC, and SNC-Lavalin, because it's virtually all we have left.
And as shit as our Loblaws overlords are, US and multinational grocery chains were champing at the bit and one of the primary instigators of boycott Loblaws to break their monopoly so they could break into our market.
>>714456195Do you think the SNC-Lavalin affair is the only thing that Liberals are guilty of?
The Bombardier bailout?
The calling of church burnings "understandable"?
The insane vax mandate that precipitated the trucker protest and how they dealt with that?
Whatever the fuck that immigration policy was that brought Khalistani rhetoric into Canada?
Aga Khan affair?
Those are the ones that I can think at the top of my head.
You have other things to worry about rather than video games. Take your country back from the hordes Trudeau brought in like the patriot in picrel first, then worry about your fucking entertainment. The beautiful forests and lakes of the great white north are about to become the dumping grounds and poo pools of the great brown north unless you stand up.
>>714456481>that privilege solely belongs to the First NationsMany of whom actually take "compensations" form Ottawa to represent their wishes. Canada never threw a tantrum. We never signaled to annex the US. We expressed interest in maintaining our sovereignty like any normal nation would.
Meanwhile historically the US has taken every economic advantage it could get away with from Canada, while offering the illusion of protection in return, protection we didn't even really need and was in fact merely the privilege of us buying US military hardware and our troops enjoying the benefit of exercising with US troops and dying for US wars abroad.

>>714459513The liberal party was in bed with the education system. Insane amounts of money over the last decade and it comes at the expensive of everyone that's not a jeet. Tuition is paraded around as "cheaper" despite the true cost being exorbitantly higher, between rent, food, car, and every other expense rising anywhere from 50% to double in the span of a decade. Cities got fucked by the immense strain on their infrastructure, and after being forced to suck it up and "just adapt bro think about the future", we're starting to see the reality that a lot of these prospective jeets are actually just border hopping to the US or going back home now they got a free education, making the last ten years a complete waste of an economic policy.
I mean shit, your average person probably could have told you this would happen. But don't worry, the experts assured all Canadians that this wasn't just a good thing, but it was absolutely necessary to survive.
Fuck Canada.

>>714459513>The country tried to capitalize on the huge influx of money due to monkey jeets spending a fortune in educationThat's a misreading of the situation.
Canada the country didn't try to capitalize on Indian immigration.
It was corruption, it was a conspiracy between Canadian politicians, Canadian oligarchs, and multinationals. Canadian oligarchs and multinationals wanted cheap labour in Canada. Some Canadian oligarchs set up sham schools that Indian nationals would have to pay to attend, not to learn anything but to game the immigration system. Canadian politicians received kickbacks and lobbying money/bribes from the oligarchs and multinationals to enact lax immigration policies, keep the immigration system stupid, and to generally turn a blind eye. None of the three parties really represent Canadian interests. None of the three parties expected the immigrants to actually improve the long-term economy of Canada. All three parties made bank and have more wealth than ever before, so they profited at the expense of Canada.
>>714459698>For Ontario in particular, it's because the LiberalsWhile all that's true, all those things were considered to be a betrayal of the liberal platform and it was met with disdain from the liberal base, which is why the progressive conservatives won now.
Honestly they're all corrupt. Liberal and conservative both. Only NDP has ever done anything actually good for Canada lately.

Every politician that wants to flood the country with foreigners at the expense of tax paying citizens should be considered a traitor and lynched in public
>>714461904Then how about you lynch them already, instead of writing gay limp-wristed larp on a board filled with other fat limp-wristed larping pedophiles.
>>714458064New guy is actually worse than the old guy. The new guy was an idiot, who didn't understand how to deceive the public and just bulled ahead with all his bullshit and relied on his pull with thirsty roasties to get him at least their votes. New guy is a former central banker and worked for some firm. He knows numbers, how to play games to hide what he's doing from the public that mostly know very little about finance. His decision to separate the federal government's expenditures into operating and capital, with the stated intention to only balance the operating budget, while hiding all the red ink in the capital budget, is just the tip of the iceberg. The guy hides his money in offshore accounts while he gets ready to hit us with taxes, fees, and tons and tons of printed money to pay for his plans.

>>714462328Yeah the best thing about Trudeau was that he's an idiot. He did dumb shit, but he was very transparent about it and you could tell what he was doing wrong. Meanwhile Carney is smart enough to cook the accounting books and shows a surprising capacity to play political games. Carney has the capacity to do far more damage to Canada and the only thing keeping him in check is a minority government.
While you white canadians argue about tarrifs, America and what it means to be a canadian patriot among yourselves let me just slide right on underneath
>>714462762But he's the man we need to deal with Trump!
If you made $65 an hour and worked 16 hour days every single day for 10 years straight and didn't spend a single penny (ie. living homeless in a shelter), you would have $3,796,000. That's a decent sum of money, but when I think that doing some sort of job worth $65 an hour at every waking hour, sacrificing a decade of your life and probably your health, all worth less than $4 million, and then when I think of people who make millions from just existing, I feel discouraged. $4 million doesn't seem like enough to last a decade unless you live frugally.
And then I think that minimum wage is $17.20 an hour and if you work 40 hours, you're taking home probably $2000 a month at the most. The shittiest places in the poverty end of my town with all the homeless addicts who steal everything that isn't bolted down cost $1500 a month (no facilities included).
>>714463097I mean I don't think PP was a good choice either. Him going completely radio silent when Trump hammered the 51st state rhetoric and only saying something after his phone call with Trump says all you need to know about him. PP is owned by Trump who's owned by Jews.
Canadian politics is a dumpster fire. You just have to vote for the least evil option and hope the country doesn't burn down.

Amazing how the opinion of Canada changed over the past decade. Went from a 1st world country to a 3rd world.
>>714439424 (OP)The question begs to be asked, why do you want to play games that are shit in the first place? Are you a console player? Nintendo? This raises even more flags.

honestly rent/housing is a much bigger issue, gaming is pretty cheap as far as hobbies go even if you decide pay for everything for some reason
>>714450024>If you account for inflation games right now are about the same price as they were in the 90sgames in the 90s came in a full sized box, physical disc, printed manual, often a poster or soundtrack CD bundled in...
to get that now you have to pay $200 for the collector's edition

As a Canadian, the last new game I bought was Armored core 6 is 2023. New games costing $120+ for a base edition game simply not worth it.

>>714466018Battlefield 2042 for me. I'll never buy another AAA again after that garbage excuse for a game.
I returned to Canada after over a year away, and it feels really weird. I don't know if it's just me, maybe I'm autistic, but nobody knows how to make conversation anymore. I'm not even an extrovert, but it's like I'll go get a haircut and whoever's cutting my hair barely responds to what I say. I'll be going through the checkout somewhere and make casual small talk, and it's quiet and awkward, like people don't know how to respond. It makes it more awkward than if it was just silence. Growing up, I noticed my parents and grandparents were social butterflies, it was like they knew everyone. I inherited their ability to do it, but I feel like a stranger in my own town now. It's not even foreigners, people who've lived here just seem more reticent.
