Freya would be more popular if she was either human or an animal that is NOT a rat. Rats aren't considered cool, they are seen as disease spreading pests. The only time I remember media pretending rats are great is the Disney movie Ratatouille. And funny enough even in that movie Disney made a Rats Are Actually Vermin Do Not Interact With Wild Rats notice.
Anyway Square Enix fumbled with Freya. They made her a vermin animal and totally half assed her entire story. Not shocker she's not popular. You got to use wolves, foxes, etc. Rodents are trash. And sorry but if you think rodents are good you are indeed an idiot. Mickey Mouse has done a lot of damage to people's minds because rodents are indeed vermin.

I don't think anyone genuinely likes that shit head. Even if they explained why he lost his memory and forgot about Freya it doesn't change the reality that he majorly ghosts her and turns her away until the end of the game where he gives in even though he still never recovers his memory. Fratley is like the Anti Zack from FF7 in that Zack never forgot Aerith and though he's sabotaged from reuniting with Aerith he makes an active effort to return to his girlfriend making him compelling and you can buy that he loved Aerith. With Fratley and his magic Dementia Alzheimer disease it's like "And I still don't even know who this chick is" its simply sour and bitter an ending with such a shitty character.
