Why didn't they just resist the draft? Why did they willingly choose to die on foreign soil, in a land that hated them, their corpses left to fester and act as food for flies and seagulls?

idk but the social stigma of avoiding the draft was so powerful... that some men killed themselves for it.

Propaganda was much easier back then.
The average Joe could only learn so much about world news through mainstream media TV, radio, or newspapers all of which were easily controlled and manipulated.
After WWI, people were actually against sending more young men to die overseas. But then Pearl Harbor happened.
after news of the le Japs attacking us, all able-bodied young men were eager to signed up to go die

Those guys were probably mostly volunteers. Draftees tend to be given less important rear echelon potato peeling shit because you want your frontline troops to be motivated to be there.

WW2 didn't have an active draft at the start. After Pearl Harbor, there was a shortage of training grounds and personnel, not of recruits.
While the Selective Service Act was in play before Pearl Harbor, there were no actual draftees at the start of the war, since there was no time for the paperwork to even get finished before floods of young men that loved their nation, and were pissed about the surprise attack, joined in record-breaking numbers.

As the war went on, however, more were drafted, and about 3/5ths of the US soldiers were drafted, though many would not fight.
Once Germany was defeated, there was a major manpower problem, as many soldiers retired after their tour, and the war with Japan was still ongoing. The big surge of volunteers were the ones in the Europe and African theaters, while the army, navy, and marines in the Pacific would be reinforced by a lot of fresh soldiers.

But you're just shitposting, so you probably didn't even read this far. So, now, I'm going to call you a dumb English Second Language subhuman nigger and a total faggot, because you almost are certainly one or those, if not both.
You cockgobbler.

Most soldiers are not infantry. Today, the ratio is roughly 20 to 1 for support personnel to infantry. Back then, it was close to 10 to 1, but there was a very good chance if you were drafted you'd be trained to fight, but not actually fight. Logistics win wars, and that's one thing that the US is very good at.

>resist the draft
Sounds like a fun premise for a game: take over America at that point and -then- spread out and wrangle the world on your terms/the terms of this new faction.
