They'd have to add an external GPU to the dock for that, which would cost hundreds of dollars. The only difference between the Deck and S2 docked/undocked is with the Deck you have full control over how much power and performance you want out of the Deck at any given time whereas the S2 kneecaps itself in handheld mode. S2 isn't getting more power out of its dock, it's undercutting itself in handheld mode without your consent.

no, my first one had some unrelated issue or defect I don't remember anymore and every replacement had fucked up extremely oversensitive trackpads

I actually had a similar problem with Nintendo, my pro controller had one of the bumpers not registering unless I pressed harder after it clicked (which ironically is now the issue my current deck is having with both bumpers but that's after 250+ hours of TF2 not out of the box) and after sending it back so many times they actually gave me a first party game for free of my choice, and then I suddenly owned splatoon 2 and I went from not caring about that franchise at all to putting hundreds of hours into it and buying all the DLC and the sequel and all its DLC

The battery life thing is also disingenuous. That's the old LCD model which has a 40 w/h battery compared to the OLED's 50w/h battery. And without seeing the settings used the result can't be trusted because the battery life you get can be radically different. You could max everything and uncap the framerate and force a game that could otherwise run perfectly fine at 13-16W to 25W for little visual gain.

I played 200 hours of rdr2. Already got my moneys worth from my deck if it has given me 100+ hours of gameplay.

I bought a 1tb Oled Steam Deck a year ago and I don't regret it except when I take it to my dads trailer. I plugged it into the wall to charge it and it blows the breaker. Hes got too much shit plugged in but isn't will to unplug any of it so I can game so when I go and visit I usually end up having to play 3DS. Anyway 1tb turns out to be way too much when you uninstall games when you finish with them. The battery life if you are playing emulators is great but if you are playing modernish games like Hogwarts Legacy or Oblivion Remaster expect only about 1 1/2 or 2 hours tops on a good day. Don't buy a huge capacity SD card if you are using Emulators 512gb is more then enough, I bought 1.5tb because I was under the impression I could migrate games to the SD card. You can't but then you can't store roms so I ended up with 2/3rd free space I'll never use. Oil resistent screen protector is a must, without it the Deck attracts fingerprints like a magnet. You get used to the weight and bulkiness of the deck pretty quick. Mod support is doable but is mostly manual unless you are using Workshop or in-game options. I hear the trackpads are great but I only ever use them in Desktop mode like a trackpad. I never got them to work in game. Same with the buttons on the back, I used it once to map rewind and fastforward to the back buttons but never in a real game. Heroic Launcher is a must if you have an Epic Account and collect free games though some games marked Verified might still not work due to having a launcher that isn't compatible.

The problem with the Switch 2's battery is it'll still only get 2 hours in games like Welcome Tour and Mario Kart World and every other 3D game whereas games that look like that on the Deck will get far better battery life. No they didn't kill it. First, Nintendo can survive pretty well without major third party support anyway. First party games are still going to be cartridge based and not key carded.

Second, these third parties are cheaping the fuck out and all key cards are doing is exposing the fraud third parties.

Also these keycards were made simply because then people would question and complain about why most of these games aren't available physically so at least you have a bit of a middleground.

Because the Switch was barely more powerful than Wii U which was basically similar to 7TH GEN hardware wise. Which means that lower capacity cards made sense and sorta "scaled" with what the Switch did. Witcher 3 and I think DQ were the only Switch games to use 32 gb cards.

Also there unfortunately still plenty of cool games that did half ass the physical release. Because again, third parties cheaped out and are a bunch of brokies. Switch 2 is just accelerating that divide.
