>>714486045 (OP)>EA, Ubisoft, Activision, etc. all spend the back half of 7th gen trying to kill off game rentals/used games in case you forgot about the whole ticket thing>Approach both Xbox and Playstation to do something about it in their new consoles>They do exactly that and are set to reveal this at E3 2013>Xbox unfortunately goes first on stage and the backlash is so extreme that it ruins them forever>Playstation historically goes last, and are able to change their presentation at the last minute You can check this too, the first print copies of Killzone and Need for Speed actually have dummied out code for a unique copy ID system that's supposed to be in on the discs but has been erased before the copies were pressed. People think it was just another part of Microcock's hubris when the reality is that both companies were going to do it, and ultimately neither of them did.
It's ironic because here we are, one generation later, and people actually have accepted not having used games because of Steam, digital-only console models, and code-in-box retail copies being everywhere now. Nintendo even uses the unique copy ID system for their own games, they just use it to go after piracy instead.
