This is consistently the single biggest problem with player retention besides timegating but DE moves slower than the Vatican. It took them how long just to address necramechs and railjack filtering people who wanted to progress through the story fast. Out of the 7 or so people I know in real life that all play Warframe I think maybe 2 ever actually built their own mech instead of buying it, and maybe 3 actually have a fully built railjack with mods at this point, and I'm one of those people.

Most people just won't bother when presented with this much friction trying to progress, they'll simply drop the game right there unless someone guides them through it. The average person is helpless at using google properly let alone navigating the sea of bad info about how to play this game. I did the Nechramech farm and the Railjack farm when they came out.
They aren't that bad. Especially after the Railjack rework so you can actually kill stuff with your ship.

This is the average player. It's what I'm saying. People wouldn't mind the grind half as much if they knew how to actually do it but they're turned off by new systems like planet rep grind or railjack so they never try. The game just needs a "show me how to into railjack" button that puts you into the first earth mission, gives you some junk, forces you to equip it, then goes into the next mission, at some point makes you buy crew, forces you to use them, etc. Same with the planets and the vaults for mechs.
Treating these players like toddlers wouldn't change the game for us, it would just mean more people make it to endgame while actually understanding how modes work and how to get stronger instead of 5,000 revs copying youtubers.

Catchup is easier than it looks. Most new farms have built in pity systems now. The only thing you'll be really behind on is Archon Shards because those are limited weekly, but you'll get enough to work with pretty quick since you can get a total of like, 6 a week now. I remember optimizing the shit out of the Eris(??) sabotage mission where you can find the hidden lockers with caches in them and farming the rifle electricity mod. It required all 3 caches and only had a 5% drop rate, but sold for 60 plat. I knew the variations of that map like the back of my hand, it was a good plat farm spot.

There are a few others like that. Basically, what I'm saying is, plat shouldn't be an issue unless you're a casual and there's no incentive to fix the shittier farms when people who know what they're doing can just bypass them with plat.

The only problem with Duviri is how often and how much you have to be there compared to the other open worlds.
You can crack out everything you could ever need from Fortuna or Plains or Deimos by the time you're done the standing grind, maybe a tiny bit more.
But because Duviri resources come at a trickle and require you to ride around on your horse and shoot plants for 20 minutes every run or you will never have enough of them, so you necessarily have to be there a lot more, it overstays its welcome.
Its otherwise a nice little side gig with very pretty visuals and a kind of interesting plot.
