Most guys I've met that obsess over Twilight Princess and Final Fantasy 7 have genuinely been a special type of tryhard that needs to be the most correctly opinioned person in the room or else their diapers become flustered quickly. That combo seems to attract a stereotype just as Sonic does in its own way.

For mainstream Hollywood, animation is exclusively for that which is childish. That's why Disney insists those photorealistic remakes be called "live action" even for ones which are 3D rendered in entirety like the new Lion Kings.
