It's important to note that you don't want the pistol to cover the track if you can help it, since that makes the tower try to use the weaker pistol instead of sticking to the much better rifle.

Compared to snipers bounty hunter can handle both moab layers and the ceramics inside, while sniper has to pick one of the two to be good at. Not that that makes sniper inherently worse or anything, I just think it should be clear to see that bounty hunter is pretty strong.

Doing quick tests in sandbox it looks like blazing suns actually seems pretty similar to elite defender. Both do about the same damage to the ghost moab on monkey meadow, but since the blazing sun isn't shooting the whole time due to being out of range that means his damage is just a little higher. It seems like it might depend on the map, though usually I imagine the range from the sniper will make it end up better. Actually I don't keep up with boss strats, do people purposely try to leak a bloon to buff the defender and kill the boss faster? that would obviously make defender way better than blazing sun.

It depends, but I think it's very easy to set up leaks on purpose for the first tiers thanks to 42 having camos.
Ezili's totem also triggers it.
Lych's soul hp drain also triggers it and then lych saps the buff if it's close enough to the sniper
So yes, if you use the sniper you want to use that but it's not needed.

of those the only only ones that comes close to fully soloing the zomg on the same map are the boat and the 204 bomb (with an alch buff). Clean up is pretty cheap so that's not really an issue, but still worth noting that the bounty hunter can handle both popping moab layers and clean up decently.

I did get Sapper pretty early, by like level 60 or so but I was grinding for it.
I had half the pops for it by playing "normally" and avoiding insta pop towers that would fuck me out of reinforced ceramic pops but then I had enough and grinded elite bloonarius by spamming retries on 5 star every time I killed him, that got me the other remaining half pops for just a couple thousand monkey dollars.

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean, but the alch can throw the gold potion to moabs and it coats the moab layer. But if you pop the moab itself, the insides won't have the gold buff.
However, if you instakill it with something like the engineer trap, then the game believes everything inside the moab also had the effect.

From testing using the ability on a single target seems a bit off and sometimes the desperado will target and shoot it twice.

Bottom has always been strong, they were made for a full harem.
Top has built in regrow removal if you give her middle crosspath. The extra pierce she got in a relatively recent update with middle crosspath if you gain lives makes this tower fantastic for shit like half cash.
