Racing online you may as well do Knockout Tour because the game forces you to drive on the long highway intermissions for Grand Prix which are boring as fuck.
With 24 players you may as well be bagging most of the time because if you pull ahead you get fucked by a slew of random shit the other 23 goobers grabbed.
Wall-riding and jumping are cool tech with neat routes, but you're likely to get fucked by the aforementioned slew of random bullshit so you're better off not even attempting it.
Really most of the race is just straightaways that you intentionally stay in the middle of the pack to pull good items then you get maybe one lap on the actual course.

It's a collecthaton, just like Mario Oddysey was and DK 64 was and 90% of Ubisoft is.

The problem is people haven't accepted the new format where you drive on the interstate to the next, which is what much of the game centers around. It doesn't help that the online doesn't let people choose the traditional format of doing laps.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, she's supposed to be 13 years old. The fact she doesn't have armpit hair is totally unrealistic and in fact immersion breaking. When I play this game, I want to be drawn into this world and I want the characters to be believable and realistic. Her design lacks pubertal features like armpit hair and breasts which makes me disappointed that it doesn't honestly reflect her true, in lore age. I want Nintendo to take lore seriously. I am upset we don't get hairy armpits. I'm upset that she isn't taller. Nintendo clearly cared more about fan service and making her look sexy than they cared about being accurate to the lore and it goes to show you how much they fell off. That attention to detail matters more than cheap titillation.

It's got platforming. It's got momentum. And it's got tons of enemies and wrestling moves where you throw enemies at each other, grab them and spin them around ala So Long Gay Bowser. And you can do pile drivers. And if an enemy isn't available, you can grab various terrain elements to serve as weapons as well.
And throughout the entire game there is gold, gems, and various unique treasures. And by the end of the game your wealth is measured and you get different endings depending on if you ended it as a broke fuck nobody or managed to become mega wealthy.

It's fun.
