I forgot who but the og writer for modern warfare left infinity ward right after mw2? They hired movie writers and the dudes didnt really have to do much other than pick up where mw2 left off which was just killing makarov and concluding the series. after mw3 infinity ward didnt have anyone to fill in and you can certainly tell with how blatantly shit the writing and how generic movie esque the newer games became.

People like to fellate mw 2019 but its really generic and predictable, it leans way too hard into realism and trash like sicario. Apparently infinite warfare had a good story but I cant tell you that since I and possibly other people never bothered playing it

Because they're consistently gritty and edgy in a cool way. Modern Warfare is spectacular and has its moments, but it's nowhere near as grimy in tone and the protagonists are pretty much just zogbot good guys for the most part whereas World at War is violence and hatred from beginning to end.
