No, but you can play as the japanese or european version of some characters, which either buff or nerf them.

Not sure and its hard to say. You can go into settings and make it play more like Melee and Ultimate because the original game is slow and clunky.

There's some practice thing in 1P mode but it's not the same as revving up gameshark and flying around a stage as master hand for the lulz

Short answer no.

Long answer Pikachu still carries bad players and the best players alike, and regardless of new chars is by far the best in the game still. Kirby is still braindead, falcon is still braindead. Link still sucks, Samus still sucks, DK still sucks, Ness still sucks, Luigi still sucks and everyone between is mediocre or needs to play lame to accomplish anything

The melee options do give some of the OG cast more options they need, but the 64 community is kicking screaming grasping clawing afraid of change and wont play with anything that compromises their comfort zone even if its an improvement.

While I agree that some options do objectively make the game better as a fighter, I'd wager 80+% of the people downloading this really do just want to play Smash 64, imperfections and all, just with some more characters.

One of the few mechanics they ported from 4/Ultimate. As your own percentage grows, so does the knockback you afflict. Can get in the way of combos in those games, but is mostly just a stupid comeback mechanic.

Probably the most actively stupid toggle, but I still question playing 64 then making it not play like 64.

I know nobody really cares about comp Smash too much. Or comp 64. Or comp Smash Remix, but it is sort of strange that Lucas and Dark Samus got folded into the bonus slot, with all the bonus characters being banned from official play. I am really feeling for the six people affected by that change.

Crash seems good except for his comically bad recovery. Banjo is ass. Marina is pure fucking garbage. The balance is honestly pretty wack across the board, although it's still fun.

Based take. It's like they tried to inject some modern BS into a game that lives and dies by simplicity. Rage was always a jank attempt to reward bad play with anime comebacks. If you're in kill % you should be sweating, not randomly empowered by the gods. Keep that garbage in Ultimate, I’ll stick to ye olde up-tilt ladder and 80% Falcon knees.
