>>714544253>Why do people get so mad about someone rightfully pointing out how poorly optimized UE5 games are?They get mad not because UE5 is shit(it is) but because a lot of what this guy says implies that devs are either lazy or incompetent and just use UE5 default settings for everything without actually thinking about what they are turning on or "is the juice worth the squeeze".
The open secret is third party engines like unreal and unity became a form of automation. Nobody wants to code or use complicated graphical techniques to squeeze performance anymore. They want to drag and drop assets on a scene and then press buttons,checkboxes and dropdowns until the engine shits out a game.
It's up to the guys at epic to figure it out how to convert the upcoming bowl movement into optimized code.
There is a new generation of devs that have no idea how to make games,they just know how to make Unreal engine templates. It's like what happened with web-devs,all they know is how to plug in modules together until a bloated site comes out.
