If the game wasn't left to rot and was actually completed I'd say Cube World. Huge potential but was never finished

I'd also say Dragon's Dogma, but I feel it's more of a story driven RPG than a sandbox like Cube World or Erenshor or Albion Online

something about the enemy having their name over their head does it for me, it's part of why I loved Risen 1 enough to beat it twice. I can't think of many other single player games that did this although I'm sure there's a ton
