More gore. More weapons. More items. More monsters. More puzzles. Bigger maps.
A game mode to play all three characters at the same time would be cool. AI or another player controls the other two and you can swap between any of them at any time. If any one character dies the game is over.
And the most important thing: PC exclusive.

I don't want a Hexen reboot. I don't want a Quake reboot. These things barely end up resembling the original games anyway outside superficial elements.
Just make new IPs. Fan communities already make new content for these games anyway. They don't need big AAA releases every five or so years to be "alive".

Still want puzzles but have them be actual puzzles and not switchhunts
Keep the multiple hubworlds with a shitton of monsters you first have to clear out because thats fun, but the levels are more open ended/more focus on exploration
still just 3 classes but lean more into the speciality of each class even more to make their gameplay more distinct from one another
add some nice modern gay ming flourishes like npcs move in and give you quests/hints in the hub world once you clear it out

I should mention that cleric in particular should be changed around to stand out more instead of just being an inbetween of warrior and mage. Give him something the other 2 don't. Maybe even add a 4th class, the ranger, so you could have the 2 ranged 2 melee, and 2 magic and 2 physical.

If you're gonna add a fourth class it should be thief. weapons could be something like, Dagger->Hand Crossbow->Throwing Knives (split into multiple when thrown, so big AoE)->Shadow Blade (teleports you forward and slashes for big damage)

You're just going to get le ebic DOOM SLAYA with a magic wand.

You could definitely do a bow instead, i just figured hand crossbow fit the thief aesthetic more. If i were to add a real bow i'd probably make it the third weapon just so it could have a little more oomph, and make the second weapon throwing knives, but replace the splitting with just throwing three knives in a fan each attack.

Nah, if they make a new Heretic/Hexen game its going to be terrible. Most of the charm of the original games are the fantastic sprite work.
