Amphetamines keep me from touching booze or any other drug for that matter. They have a learning curve to use effectively, but mastering it has helped me get my shit together in ways I don’t think I would’ve been able to otherwise.

I wouldn’t do what >>714558460 suggests. I’ve never been addicted to an opiate but from what I hear the withdrawals can be hellish. Amphetamine withdrawals are pretty mild in comparison— they cause a state of bodily exhaustion that can last for 2-5 days, followed by a dopaminergic refractory period that lasts up to 10 days. So basically, you feel sleepy then you feel depressed. But you don’t experience the severe pain associated with opiate withdrawal or the DTs associated with alcohol withdrawal.

Any new game I try to play becomes frustrating because I despise learning new mechanics when I’m drunk. I also tend to forget whatever I was playing the night before, which makes playing the game again even less appealing.

Only game I could play when drunk was Rocket League. I’d blast music and play if and pretty much reach a point where I’d start to derank rapidly. Listening to music while shitfaced and having an activity to keep you occupied is really fun, though. Even if it does eventually lead to extreme misery down the line.
