I enjoyed the story of the original MGQ, endearingly ugly though it may be at times, but the multiverse shenanigans and shallower story in Paradox have soured me. Still like the affection/grind/monster collection aspects and the sheer size of the roster, but wish it was in a better game.

In some cases yes. But most of the time they have barebones gameplay that more or less makes it act like an inconvenient gallery viewer.
The ones with gameplay, let alone good gameplay, are a lot less common. Then you have to factor in whether it has your fetish on top of that.

You see this sentiment echoed all the time, same with the assumption that ecchi games having innately shallower gameplay, but I've never really seen it actually play out in reality for either of those. Porn games very often have experimental gameplay and a high focus on it, they aren't uniquely bad in this regard nor do they have more bad games per capita.

MGQ paradox is better than any game I've looked at in the past year meanwhile my favorite series have all turned to garbage in the pursuit of an audience I despise.

Aren't all of the monster girl games shit where the human doesn't want to bang and the sex scenes are only available if you lose, and it is all rape?

I enjoyed every single aspect of Kamidori, you can remove the porn and it's still a solid and very long game, and you can remove the game and you'd still have good porn. I miss my old save.

well yeah, doesn't it take like 50 hours to get to the porn?

There's a request/begging mechanic with the 800+ monster girls you can recruit, and there's a handful of not game over scenes in a late part 2 sidequest.
