It's just collectible art. Like posters or a cactus or whatever. You stick them on your shelf because you like the character and like looking at them. And It's not like rooms of character merch are exclusive to overtly sexual stuff, or to men.

I have a figure of TF2's Soldier that got me an in-game hat and three Amiibo, two of which were birthday gifts because I didn't know what else to ask for, and that's it.
I've never really been a material person, I truly cannot understand why someone would want to fill their shelves with things that will do nothing but gather dust. It's just a waste of money.
