Why does 2015 games look better than 2025 games (which run like absolute garbage on top of being ugly)
?

>better art design
>better color value levels
>better image stability (native res)
>no Temporal smudge-shit
>no fake frames
>made to run on ~2011 tier mobile hardware, meaning a desktop gaming PC of the same era can easily do 1080p / 60fps, all settings High.

Yeah, it has FXAA instead, which is a blur filter that doesn't even remove jaggies.

Man, crazy to think that this fucking game was made on Unreal Engine 3
Still blows nearly every game out of the water

Incorrect.
FXAA is far from perfect, but it's not "just blur".
People mostly got sick of the terrible implementations of the oooldass 1.0 version, which is cheap and fast. But it's also 20 years old tech. We do have better post-processing AA methods, such as SMAA and CMAA.

Games that utilize FXAA well include:
Witcher 2, REmake HD, Serious Sam 3 and Talos Principle.

Because this game was unplayable on the average gaming PC until 2020

Show it in motion instead

Why the fuck do Snoyniggers still spew this BS?
The game ran far better than on consoles day 1, and all your "muh stability issues!!" nitpicks were fixed already TEN YEARS AGO.

Rock Steady did great work but the Arkham series had some conveniences other games don't get to have. Static times of day so more shadows can be baked in. Also at night so at so some flaws can be hidden more easily.

I cannot at the moment,
but if you're referring to crawling artifacts and such, those are completely different subject matters that could be remedied with superior artistic designs + material specific post processing.

It ran so poorly that WB delisted it for months, and then quietly relisted it still mostly broken

FXAA is the worst cancer there ever was.
People whine about TAA blur but atleast TAA removed jaggies and shimmering completely.
FXAA doesn't do shit but blur the image, making it look like it's running below native res. It baffles me why the industry used it instead of SMAA.

The game was fixed for years.
I was there. The BatHam used to be the "Gotcha, PC cucks! :^)" argument Snoyfags had until they started fellating Bloodborne a few years later.

>>714618803
lol nope.
TAA is one of the biggest sins ever invented, braking the stability and sharpness of the game's image. It's also enabling OTHER cancer designs the industry is now standardizing, such as 1-bit dithered alpha and shading; something that would've been embarrassing already 25 years ago.

But I wouldn't expect a pleb shitposting about crap he knows nothing about to understand why people generally loathe TAA and would much rather have a well implemented FXAA solution instead.

>It baffles me why industry used it instead of SMAA
Because FXAA is free, open source, and literally can be injected through Nvidia control panel since ~2008.
Meanwhile SMAA was invented by Crytek over half a DECADE later, and is proprietary tech. We ultimately got a 1x solution that could be injected with SweetFX and such.

Higher education has been lowering grading standards for years so they can fit more people through the pipeline for greater profits. The result is that every campus churns out artists that are barely qualified in comparison to previous generations, on top of that, hiring is likewise handled by unqualified people who do not select applications based on merit, but on whether or not the applicant gives them the ick, or fits some other irrelevant criteria.

Competence is not rewarded, so incompetence is what you get. Execs don't give a fuck as long as the product makes it to market. For a long time, normalfag cattle would buy games no matter what they looked like.

They had access to more powerful hardware, while still retaining a lot of the "handcrafted" workflow and techniques from the previous gen that made games actually look decent on terrible hardware. Best of both worlds essentially.
Then new tools, shaders and rendering techniques were developed to help automate stuff(and make everything look like a blurry mess), then the old devs who knew shit left/got replaced by outsourced jeets and diversity hires.

Arkham Knight on PC was never fixed, hardware just advanced to the point where it was brute forcible. A couple years after release it was fine on top end hardware, only by 2020 was it playable on a midrange PC.

No. I remember when the patch came out and shit ran far better on the same hardware I had been using at launch

It was. A decade ago.
I don't know what kind of ancient memes parroting mouthbreather (or a corpo viral marketer) ya need to be to claim otherwise. The PC version is LITERALLY the definitive edition, no less now that the consoles only got access to the terrible "HD remasters".
