Do you have any modded consoles?
What are they?
Is it worth it?

my younger brother modded his 3ds and then helped me do the same with my 2ds
i'd say it's the bare minimum to do that if you're going to use a 2/3ds these days
lots of cool bells and whistles you can get access to and even if you don't wanna pirate shit you can still grab any dlc you missed out on before the eshop was shut down

I have a modded PS2 and PS1. The PS2 is soft modded to run burned PS1 and PS2 games, so I hardly ever use the PS1. I get a lot of utility out of the PS2, lots of fun games on there. I have an R4 cart for mt DS that I've played a few games on too. I also have an Xbox and a PS3, but I haven't bothered with modding them since there's only two OG Xbox games I'm interested in playing, and I have them already, and PS3 are just too big for me to download.

I am considering modding the Xbox anyways and turning it into a media cetner for my CRT TV. I think it'd be pretty funny to boot a console from 2001 to watch my animes and youtube.

I have an Xbox, PS2, PS3, 3DS, WiiU (though I haven't used it in awhile) and Vita. totally worth it, love being able to play all sorts of retro games on my CRT or on approximations of real hardware in the case of DS on my 3DS. I should probably get a DSI for better visuals for DS games but I'm not really sweating it right now

I modded my wii, if anything just so I can have all the gamecube games I want running on native hardware, so I don't have to be bothered to compromise with not-100% emulation (depending on what your definition of emulation is)

I was thinking of modding my switch. It's among the older models where "easy modding" is possible, but it has the latest updates because I'm retarded. Have I fucked myself? Or does anyone know offhand if modding is still possible

Seamless online integration with Insignia that works with 200 titles, integrated download tools for downloading new dashboards, game mods, custom skins, homebrew, official game DLC, tools all from the internet in 2025, the best versions of 6th gen games, 480p minimum in every game, ninja gaiden black, 4 players with no multitap.

PS2 has a similar project called PSRewired which restores online functionality for many of it's games. Though I'll admit Xbox live is more robust than PS2's DNAS ever was. Does Insignia have all the old Xbox live features like friends and voice chat?

3ds is pretty nice. twilightmenu++ lets you do ds games natively and i think you can set up forwarders to have the icons for the games on your home screen.

you can also do gba games natively either via open_agb_firm, which is like a command line thing you run from a boot menu (no limitations doing it this way and it's easier but a bit clunkier), or via injection so that you have gba game tiles on your home screen (although at this point you don't usually need to do it yourself, you can just download one someone else did). the latter's a bit harder to do yourself and you're limited by the number of tiles you can have on your home screen, so you can't do the entire gba library that way.

I've heard 3DS or PSVita are the way to go for modding handhelds but the native DS games are why I'm leaning towards the 3DS. DS games suck to emulate on anything else when it's a game you need the touchscreen for. I'll look into that though, the homescreen thing isn't a dealbreaker but it would be cool as fuck, I would've killed for that when I was a kid. Command lines aren't foreign to me though and as long as the game runs I'm good

the way i have it set up is that a few of my most common gba titles are on my home screen but i just access the rest of the gba's library via open agb firm. seems like a decent balance to me.

twilightmenu++ is solid but the scaling isn't perfect due to the resolution mismatch so if you're sensitive to that you might take issue. i think there's an option to play at actual resolution with blackboxing but i don't use that, it's fine for me.

i have a ps2 slim with funtuna. it's cool but big games (over 4 gigs and especially dual layer disk games) is a bit of a hassle.
i also had a ps3 with CFW (before i broke it by trying to fix a hardware issue) and it was pretty cool having my games in the console itself (though again, moving games was a bitch). if i had a spare 1tb drive and could be fucked to properly backup my stuff, i could have have my entire library of games and every other game i ever could have wanted on that thing.

US SNES - Widened cart slot
PAL SNES - 50/60hz and region switches
Saturn - 50/60hz switched, and Region switch
Gamecube - Mod chipped
PS2 - Hard Drive + modded mem card to run ISOs
PS3 - 3K3Y Optical Emulator
Switch - Atmosphere or whatever it's called
PS4 - Goldhen

>Is it worth it?
From the PS3 onwards it's worth having systems modded.

For all those previous ones (nes up to ps2/cube) it's not worth it because i can just emulate on my CRT because i have a 240p transcoder and dedicated emulator PC.
