Fire Emblem Three Houses was an event. Now that felt like a real game. You had your Persona slop high school aspect but also Fire Emblem gameplay, and the characters were often more well written than in the 3DS Fire Emblems, and fully voice acted, so it felt like there was a lot of sharing of favorites that doesn't often occur because the characters are so bland normally.
The 3 houses system also contributed to people arguing favorites.

It really felt like a game that generated fandom and zeitgeist. Ahh, I miss it.

Old Fire Emblem fans can't stop talking shit about it, but during its "zeitgeist" normal people were all over it. Felt like Mass Effect 2 or something. It's like yea, it has problems compared to the old games, but everyone's just talking about their experiences and that doesn't often happen like that because Fire Emblem isn't usually that big.

It was idiotic to be alarmed when FE changes almost every other game anyways, and IS showed they already moved on with Engage. 3H didn't take over, and yeah, it was a blast to be around the fandom at the time.

Treehouse will never allow another game like Xenoblade 2 to be made under their watch. Third-party games with similar aesthetics and fanservice are literally getting blocked from release on the Switch. Nintendo has the fucking Minions director as a CEO on their board now. They're done. Throw them in the same pile as Sony, EA, and Ubisoft. They'll never make games this soulful again, or allow any others to be released on their platform. I pray that Monolithsoft jumps ship again eventually.

Awakening already gave FE the 'shipping simulator' reputation. 3H didn't really change it in any negative way.
You can argue for XB2, but it seems like the people bitching about the designs weren't the type to be into Xenoblade anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

In 2024, a year after Engage released, it only sold 3000 physical copies in Japan. In the same year 3H sold 3700 copies.
The monastery haters are a vocal minority. Most people who would buy a FE like what Garreg Mach offers.

I forgot the Switch 1 and 2 use flash cards with 32 to 64 gb. That's pathetic compared to a PS5's storage capacity. Even if the other were hardware were up to snuff it couldn't even store a PS5's game.
