Why haven't you tried becoming a streamer yet? The barrier to entry has literally never been lower than it is now. Most people don't know how to stream with a proper setup, lack a consistent schedule, play boring games they aren't even good at and have less than zero charisma. The idea that it takes extreme amounts of time and dedication is a myth. In actuality you just have to put the bare minimum effort in and not give up after a week of no one watching you.

only people that started streaming during the early years of twitch have an audience because they built a community over the years,

or you need to have accomplished something that makes your channel go viral. like that guy that got world first lvl 60 in classic wow

There's too many streamers. You can definitely build a small community of people to talk to or hang out/play with but to make a living out of it is impossible nowadays unless you get lucky. You HAVE to play the algorithm game on youtube and tiktok to then try some twitch shit with the viewers you get from that. At some point getting a 9-5 close to where you live is better. Having a normal job while trying to make it as a streamer is also hell, normal jobs drain all motivation to do much. That's why a lot of newer big streamers started out very young when they didn't have responsibilities and they still made it so they didn't have to deal with a job draining their dreams.

there reason you hover around 2-3 viewers (being your friends or "graphic designer" bots about to try scam you) is because of luck; it has always been about luck, 100%
you hover around 2-3 viewers, probably being your friends from discord or bots about to tell you about graphic design, because you drew the short stick of fate
meanwhile your friend, who has negative charisma from your experience, put in next to no effort and just happens upon interacting with a big streamer and suddenly has a large influx of viewers, and says he is making $1000 a month from that, while you continue to get JohnBot1234 in DMs telling you "hey friend :))) twitch layout designs made cheap"

Never been a streamer but I do know that they tend to use shit like OBS and actually being able to set that shit up quick and neat is transferrable to game QA work. Or really any proficiency with video capture because a video of a bug that you're reporting goes a long way towards getting it fixed.

have you taken a look at the statistics of Twitch? It is depressing. You only need 30 viewers to be in the Top 1%. Like 90-95% of streamers stream to literally no one. The entirety of Twitch's viewership is driven by a few dozen streamers out of literal thousands of others streaming to nobody.

Trying
>The barrier to entry has literally never been lower than it is now.
I suppose
>Most people don't know how to stream with a proper setup
People's audio mixing drives me nuts
>lack a consistent schedule
I tried the schedule thing for streaming. Felt like hell. I do try to stick to uploading a vid every Saturday though. Feels much more manageable, but I wish I could do more.
>play boring games they aren't even good at
The boring games part is subjective. I don't think a streamer has to be good at a game for it to be an entertaining experience.
>have less than zero charisma.
I'll give you that one. It's a mystery how objectively terrible people have any audience whatsoever. I'm not even talking about big streamers here.
>The idea that it takes extreme amounts of time and dedication is a myth. In actuality you just have to put the bare minimum effort in and not give up after a week of no one watching you.
Half true. I'd say part of it is dedication/effort and 500% of it is luck

Here's my links. The pipeline is Stream to Edited Video to Clips. I'm constantly in editing hell and I'm really trying to get over my 'tism about the quality of my videos so that I can stream/upload more. I'd appreciate if anyone checks the clips channel. My clips get less than nothing and that drives me crazy. Honestly, I'm fine with getting no views. I make Let's Plays, so the lack of views makes sense. I've been making vids for over 2 years cause it's fun and keeps me busy, but I just don't get why the clips get nothing. Anyways, I hope someone enjoys. Drop your links too, my friends. Thats just not true buddy
I've been streaming for multiple years only got 2 of the $50 payouts and one of those was $75 from when they lowered it down when it was $100 minimum
I've got a top end PC, I play relatively popular games like Marvel Rivals and Street Fighter 6 and I stream daily, always read every chat, do the most I can to have minimal ads because they are mandatory on twitch now and interrupt content no matter what

you have to make a conscious and consistent effort to shill yourself across everywhere, make connections, watching bigger streamers to have a chance at being raided, and when you DO get raided you need to put on that fake LFG hype man personality cause the initial raid has about 70% of them leave the moment their streamer does it and then the last of them trickle away fast
OR you can have an existing audience on another platform follow you, but the you risk losing them too like when moistcritical lost a lot of his audience getting lazy with his content fucking reuploading stream vods with the titles of videos
not to mention twitchs poor discovery features

its tough man, you cant just turn on obs, play like you do every day, and expect an audience to come from that
thats a daydream

Do not listen to this guy, that only works for women. Being a vtuber is the worst option available for a man. The only successful male vtubers either have to do gay shit to pander to women, use AI voices/TTS with female avatars, or be born Japanese and join Nijisanji. Just stream without a facecam or graphic on screen, you'll save money and leave with your dignity if it doesn't work out.

Because only like the top ~1% make enough to make a decent living and that group of people are usually people who were already famous from something else (like pro-gaming), were early adopters who had the first mover advantage and streamed literally for over the past decade, or are people with connections who knows someone else who is famous. Hitting it big at this point is basically the equivalent of winning the lottery since you need to compete with everyone else

I tested out Puppy Cam recently. I like it. I don't take enough pictures of my dog as it is, so this is a happy medium. I think the shot will always look bad though. I don't have the heart to move his bed from his comfy spot just to get a better shot.

why bother when countless others are trying the same thing, all driven by money because why the fuck wouldn't you be? everyone sees a streamer go live and earn more money in donations over an hour than you have over years, so of course people dream of that and starts streaming, especially if you're poor or/and on neetbucks, because hobbies are dead

It's even grimmer on YouTube. How many times do you run into smaller non-vtuber streamers on it? Most people that aren't a vtuber either moved their Twitch user base to YouTube, or have years worth of content on their YouTube channel and then begin streaming on YouTube.

unfortunately i'm a furry vtuber with a big ass. this attracts some and filters others. i hate furry culture so it kinda evens it out for the more normie viewers, i ended up being one of the "good" ones

>gives me a chance to indulge the happy little drama kid I was once upon a time
I used to stream with some success and stopped because I was busy with IRL bullshit that left me suicidally depressed for years. I really liked streaming because, while I was also a theater kid, it really reminded me of playing video games while sitting my younger siblings and cousins. I often wonder whether I should back into it, because I feel like I've lost touch with the joy I used to get from entertaining other people.

It doesn't help that every other labor market feels like it's fucked, and you might as well just do what you like to do now.

With streaming on Twitch, you literally cannot maintain your old videos because they autodelete.

I started because my friend I played vidya with got a gf and now Im 30 and dont have friends anymore. I never had 'online' friends growing up but Ive entered the circles of some really supportive people and its actually pretty fun. Also works as a creative outlet I needed, since editing clips and working on art for my channel has been cool.
