Sly 2 is legendary. Was my first Sly game too. After that had to get third one too and only then the first one. I enjoyed all of them but nothing beats the second one imo. Third is the second best and then 1 though maybe part of the reason is the fact that 2 was my first one and i so used to how characters looked in that and 3 compared to the first Sly where they kinda looked more younger, something about Murray especially pissed me off how he looked in it. Also probably the fact first Sly had no Finnish dub at all which i also got used to a lot.

a stealth based collectathon platformer is a really goddamn great idea that was only attempted once and was forever whisked away by the trends of the time shifting to narrative shit games.
2 is a good game, but it just feels tedious because you are looking at the same environments, doing kinda whatever minigames, while looking at the same kind of environemnt for like 1 or 2 hours every chapter. and almost EVERY chapter is so dreary and gloomy. hate 3 all you want but at least those chapters feel far more dynamic and a lot more colorful

both ratchet 2 and jak 2 added (more) combat to the formula and other stuff but they were still platformers
sly 2 replaced most of it with short gimmicky missions and a crapton of cutscenes and binocucom bullshit
that's a fact you can't refuse, someone expects the sequel to be more of the same but better and here they took a big dump on the first game and what made it so good

That's funny. I played those games with Finnish dubs (because Finnlad) and i'm surprised they kept the same voice actors which made me like Sly 3 almost just as much as 2. Fourth is the one where they decided to change Slys, Bentleys and Carmelitas voices. I honestly would have enjoyed that game a lot more had they kept the same voices but they didn't.

That's like 1/3 of the missions in levels 1-4 in Sly 1, and 2/3 in level 5, and I'd definitely argue those ones are worse than 2's. That's just a fault with every Sly game.

Sly 2 is an evolution on Sly 1's formula.
Ratchet 2 changes the actual gameplay quite a bit by going full strafe shooting, prioritizing the gunplay/combat. In the first game the jet things you get towards the end are technically strafe enabling but they handle like shit in comparison to just how you play in 2/3/all other games.

Jak 2 is significantly less platforming than the first, any platforming serves to get to new people to shoot.

That's a good question. A new movement option would be the best fit but they have covered a lot of options already. But I don't want any new mechanics for the side characters. The stealth platforming should focus on Sly

I don't know, maybe incorporating the cane to scale a wall or flip around a corner smoothly/quickly.

Look. I love the series. Sly 1 has aged like fine milk compared to all the rest. It's an excellent platformer 1/3rd of the time, with phenomenal atmosphere.

The rest is horrible goddamn minigames. The FUCKING worst being anything Murray related.
