I agree. Season 2 is great, but Season 1 is a good introduction to everything as a whole, the world, the Uma's and the Characters. It helps Setup Season 2 and then onward it's great from there. Without watching those seasons, I would never have been through S3 of Pretty Derby, let alone watched the OVA trilogy, Movie and then ended up loving Cinderella Gray. It really is amazingly well animated and absolutely wonderful writing.

Currently right now it's Speed first, Stamina second, and Power 3rd. The only times this changes is with End Closers and Late Surgers where they run longer races and therefore need more Stamina, Power to break free. Also something to keep in mind. Focus on Yellow/Blue skills. Maestro/Corner recovery are god tier if you are lacking Stamina and Yellow Skills especially for acceleration on general abilities(not just long, mile etc) are worth looking into.

Get a Bakushin run with a fuckload of speed with like 5-6 speed support cards and then use her and a borrowed Uma with at least a B rank and you'll start getting some good speed on every uma and that'll alone win you most runs.
I usually use at least 3-4 speed support cards and then the rest being what I need from them like power for sprinters and stamina for medium and long and I can consistently hit about 1000 speed every run if I don't get raped with events.
It's infinitely easier once you just get into that B rank territory and you can expect at least half decent stats for every start.

Yeah as a minigame you do a few times for the prize and never touch again, within an actual more elaborate game. I can't imagine that as the whole game, not even including it pushing to get you to spend money.
