If the switch 2 had a Home console only version that comes whit a classic controller no joy-cons.
and it cost like 300-350$ would you buy instead of the portable console.

Because it seams to me nintedo is just forcing portability on people who don't play portable.

Why does EVERYONE have a completely different fucking opinion about this shit constantly? I thought people only cared about the nintendo exclusives? If portability matters now, then why is the screen fucking dogshit?

I'd buy a home console version because I don't fucking care about portable shit

The ironic thing is that it's a completely pathetic handheld with how bad the screen and battery life are, as well as being too massive to comfortably bring around without any kind of carrying case.

I had this mindset, like why would I play games outside, I play games to relax, not while outdoors.

But then I realised I can use my switch while on a train or plane, I can use my switch even laying on my bed instead of getting my computer set up, I can play switch when visiting family, play it just before i sleep in my bed.

No, I actually started playing less when I moved from a Switch Lite to an OLED, I just wish Nintendo added an option to run the games with full power in handheld mode, I don't care if the battery life goes to shit, I can plug it

Flexibility that comes with portability is one of the main selling points.
We've been over this countless times since 2017.

Apparently playing while laying in bed is a big deal to a lot of people.

I'm with you OP. I could not give a shit about the "handheld" feature. It could easily be $200 cheaper without it. Real handheld gaming died with the DS.

Because the quality of the screen is a complete non-factor in the success of Nintendo handhelds. See also: Literally every single one

that's the whole gimmick and point of the switch. For every person that only plays docked there is a person that plays mostly handheld.
how does one consolidate this difference in playstyles I wonder.... hmmm idk make a fucking switch maybe???

I wouldn't say it's a complete non-factor, my main reason why I didn't buy was because of the screen. not having oled in a portable is a crime.
It's just a small factor though I agree there, people buy Nintendo for the first party games mainly.

I've played my launch window Switch less than 5 times outside of the dock. I'd be fine with a Switch 2 that got rid of portability altogether. I don't mind the joycons, prefer a Pro controller of course. I've owned every Nintendo handheld since the original GB, too. Always preferred the home console experience is all

No, because desktop consoles no longer make any sense for anyone with minimal knowledge who therefore owns a PC.
I'm not going to buy the Switch 2 for handheld for now, though. The screen is awful, and I'm surprised it took people so long to notice. Any damn video I see of it being tested, you can clearly see that the screen is simply not suitable for video games.
Pc related wasn't even about the screen, but about Cyberpunk's performance, but you can clearly see during the video that the images double/triple when the camera moves. How are people accepting this shit? How demanding are video game consumers today?

3DS was meh. The 3D gimmick was dumb, the console was way more expensive, and the library sucked. And even though it was backwards compatible with DS, it fucked up the resolution (and yes I'm aware you can hold START while loading a DS game but it still shrinks the resolution). I'd rather be backwards compatible with GBA and have cool easter eggs that combine a DS and GBA game.

Also the DS Phat was comfy and sturdy. It had superior buttons and dpad. And I vastly prefer the instant bootup of the DS over the painful 3DS loading time (you also have to hold the power button to shut it off too).

I would only buy it if it ditched making online required for everything, nso wasn't practically mandatory, brought back the virtual console to replace the cloud gaming portion of nso, and didn't trickle gamecube games like the cunts they are, I'd buy one for every room in my fucking house. But nintendo won't do any one of these, and such practices will only get worse with this, and future gens. Which is why I'm done with buying anything new from nintendo, it's retro and emulation ever since I saw the switch 2 direct, confirming all the leaks

I bought a steam deck oled and I regret it. I paid a lot more for it than a standard console, and I risk it burning in. Worst yet is that I just play H-games. I gained nothing besides one day getting large breasts burned into the screen

The switch being portable is why it's successful (in addition to console exclusives people actually like)
Why would I buy a ps5 or Xbox when I have a pc? They're just mediocre prebuilts essentially that do nothing my pc can't, even all the exclusives make their way to pc.

Also I'm not poor so $450 for a console is fine.

I always play on the TV but I want the option to play handheld even if I hardly do it. I also would have preferred to have an OLED screen. My OG Switch doesn't look as good as an OLED model one, the difference was that notable. But the Switch 2 screen is such a massive step up over the original Switch that it's like comparing an OLED model to the base Switch. I just wonder how much better OLED would look if it already looks this good.

Other than that
>I played on the original Game Boy and its pea soup screen, constantly fighting the contrast
>Game Boy Pocket was smaller and greyscale, Game Boy Light had a blue light
>I had a Game Boy Color which was better in every way except the lighting, had to use a dongle
>I had a GBA SP which was better than that, but the AGS-101 with the backlight shits all over the original
>Had a DS Lite which looks miles better than the original DS
>DSi has a way better screen than the DS Lite, and I heard the DSi XL is the way to go when playing DS games
>I have an original 3DS and DS games look like ass on it
>Also a New 3DS XL with an IPS top screen and it's pretty good for original DS games

In terms of screens released by Nintendo
>Switch games
Switch 2 > Switch OLED > Switch Lite > Switch
>3DS games
New 3DS XL > New 3DS > 3DS XL > 3DS > New 2DS XL > 2DS
>DS games
DSi XL > DSi > New 3DS XL > New 3DS > DS Lite > 3DS XL > 3DS > New 3DS XL > 2DS > DS
>GBA games
AGS-101 > DS Lite > Micro > AGS-001 > DS > GBA
>GBC games
AGS-101 > AGS-001 > GBA > GBC
>GB + GBC-enhanced games
AGS-101 > AGS-001 > GBA > Light > GBC > Pocket > GB

I'm going to say by this logic, the Switch 2 has the best display of any Nintendo console released, but it would be better with OLED.

>no joy-cons, pro only
Fuck you. Joy-cons are the real Switch gimmick.

Fuck the handheld. Fuck the screen. Nobody else has made a split controller as good as the Switch. These knock-offs miss the point of the thin and ultra-lightweight design. They think they can just split a regular controller in half. And hell, it's kinda cool that a pair of joy-cons can be used as 2 controllers. They also have gyro but since they are small and wiimote-like they can be used more creatively like boxing or swordfighting or whatever.

Look at Nintendo's history and you'll find that none of their home consoles outsold their contemporary handhelds (GB > SNES, GBC > N64, GBA > GC, DS > Wii, 3DS > Switch). Portability is the whole point of the Switch and is the reason why it's so successful.

joycons suck ass dude, even ignoring their unreliability they're as thin as cardboard, have shitty buttons, no dpads, a dumb layout whether two-handing one controller or one-handing two controllers, tiny thumbsticks, bad shoulder buttons, no analog triggers, + and - buttons that you can accidentally hit when using the analog sticks, needless gimmicks like the capture button... >big and clunky

>battery good for 1 play session, so I hope you remember to keep charging it and fully shut down when not using.
What is the appeal? Why do people pretend they use it on subways or trains that are like a 20 minute ride at most? Who the fuck games in such short sessions? And how many times does one normally ride an airplane? And why play in public with glare, engine noises, screaming children, and nosy people?
