A real world application is training one to do a simple task then when it has successfully learned, replicate the data on other similar devices and you go from one robot to several dozen that are just as a smart.
I am currently working in a chemical plant and yeah we totally need robots for of these tasks, getting evaporated by acid is not a Christian way to go.
