But also there does exist regular plastics that are not meant to be archival (like plastic bottles). I remember opening up a plastic 10-in-1 game case and the little soft rubber/plastic inside looks like it was sweating, if you pressed your finger in it it would deform and was no longer hard. With the advent of random Chinese manufactures popping up with subpar quality control, and having engineers that think every plastic is the same, shit like this happens.

You can literally use rubbing alcohol or lemon juice to remove battery acid corrosion. In most cases it basically just becomes a solid mineral surrounding the metal parts.
